My M18 battery adapters

I have Ryobi and Craftsman tools acquired for cheap from garage sales and auctions. I have M18 batteries so I decided to make adapters from some junk batteries that I have. Bought this adapter on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-...830058?hash=item2f0eec4caa:g:cJoAAOSwH2VaCzCO. Gutted the cells out of the old batteries and attached the adapter. Both work great. I only have to have one battery system and charger now. Some people may ask why not buy M18 tools? I am cheap. I cannot justify a M18 hedge trimmer when I only use my $25 Ryobi once a year.

Sorry, but that is ghetto engineering. Just because something is cheap, does not make it a deal if you have to cobble stuff like that together. Would have been better off picking one platform and selling the rest and reinvest in that one platform.

I disagree. Fundamentally all these tools run off of 18V, and as long as you're not draining the battery pack all the way down (since the battery protection circuitry is in the tool for the milwaukee) then it's perfectly fine.

Why invest more money into something you already have?

Buying certain tools from milwaukee is a good idea, but for seldom used tools, it's an expensive proposition.

Whatever people have to tell themselves I guess. Still ghetto no matter how they want to spin it.

I don't like the bulk but it's cool. Seriously. Ignore the haters.

I thought the battery protection is in the battery itself for Milwaukee???

I think this is great. Using the resources you already have, and saving some money. Better than dumping loads of cash to switch to new platforms ever few years. Ignore the unimaginative $hit-talkers.

Interesting idea. I like it.

Was it impossible to attach the adapters directly to the tools?

No, I have multiple tools that I can use the adapters for. That way I do not need to by a adapter for each tool.

Ah! Very clever.

If it were me, I'd probably buy the extra adapters, just to avoid the extra bulk and because I'm kinda fussy about things like that. But your solution is smart.
