My Mancave

Hey guys,

Background on me and the Mancave :
I am 28 years old, from Montréal, always loved cars and garages. We own a construction company, general contractor to be exact. Commercial, industrial and institutional. We don't do residential work so we don't get to build sweet garages like you see on the forum. However, I can often times salvage interesting stuff from commercial and industrial renos.

The Mancave is a detached, 35*35 two storey building. 16 ft ceiling on the ground floor and 10ft on the 2nd.16ft wide garage door on ground floor and 12 'on top . This building is located behind our shop /office and used to serve as a drywall storing place for our rona which used to be on the first floor, below our offices. For those who don't know, rona is a hardware store chain very popular in Quebec/Ontario. We moved the store so the obvious thing to do when the place was empty was to convert it into a Mancave.

This thread may not mean much to the casual reader but I will use it as a diary to keep track of the progress (or lack thereof)

I am currently in the process of reorganizing the place... So yeah.

First world problems

Clutter post makeover

Wall of shame with beer fridge and little 8*8 nook for panel. I will now use this space as tire storage for all the winter tires for the shop trucks

Getting the racking up there.. By myself. Laziness at its best

Salvaged this from a cafeteria. I love the color. It's the same as my stickers color on the racecar. You can see the 1 1/2'' line with 3 quick connect, hooked up to a big *** compressor in the right corner

Can't complain with free stuff but there used to be a sink in there. No running water in the Mancave so I took the router out, dug 5/16'' and fitted a 1/4 '' plate (36''*20'') to be used as a banging surface... Too bad the gf doesn't visit the Mancave.

I guess I forgot to add the reason behind all the changes.
Obviously it needs a bit of a clean up but my goal is to buy a one post Lift against the wall on the right. I want to fit the 911 and buy an old stingray to restore for my mom. Top secret project. She won't know until I'm revving the **** out of it in front of her house. I'm setting a two year dead line.

I really want to own one of those at some point....I will prob try to pick one up in the next year or two. The Cayman is also really nice. I have heard that tracking a car is incredibly addictive....and expensive

I was at Mt. Tremblant in 1968. I don't know if I'd like to see it now although on TV it looks beautiful. But there is something about the memories of seeing a track got through the woods, over a bridge and no guard rails. Concrete pit garages F1 style.

Yeah, construction is good but I still work 65-75 hrs a week.. But it's worth it!
Yes Tremblant is magnificent, especially our last track even was early September, the leafs were turning red and orange. It was hard to focus with such a beautiful background! I love the drive in the morning from my place it's around 1h30 mins.

Apparently there's a couple of p car owners on GJ!

I'm looking at a one post Lift, to go against the wall on the right (opposing the wall of shame). Any suggestions? Will be used for oil changes, tire changes on the construction trucks (pickups mostly).

No covers! Ever! Sorry as a Detailer they are just awful. The car will be fine without one, just make sure a good coat of wax or sealant is on. If you really want to go the extra I'd recommend a ceramic coating.

Good point. It's probably better to let the dust set on it than have the cover scratch the paint some more. I guess the best thing to do would be to enclose the car with a plastic barricade that doesn't touch the car.. More projects!

Plate is 1/8''

Lincoln migpak 140,fluxcore. 035 wire. Wire speed set at 2 and amps at C. It may not mean much to most guys as this is a pretty basic machine but if you have advice or tips on my welding, I would love to hear it.

With respect to winter storage, my summer ride is heading into a 40ft cargo container we cleaned up to make room. Plenty cold, but this will free up the shop, and protect the van.
