Happy New Year to all my GF friends!
Finished up the remainder of the year with continued work on my silly golf restoration project!
Continuing from my last update, before I could get the rest of the center console installed I needed to do a quick bushing refresh on the shifter box, so out it came and new bushings installed....forgot to take photos, not that there was much to look at, but this is the unit on the bench ready for disassembly

Back in the car with the center console fully installed, starting to look like a car again...kinda

Next up was more cleaning, this time, rear seats, head rests and seat belts....
Seat belts were first....as expected the fronts were pretty nasty but cleaned up nicely...my creative way to hold them for a good cleaning

Detail of the level of filth and how they cleaned up

Next up were rear seats, they weren't horrible, as expected they cleaned up really nicely
You can kind of see the difference in this photo of the bottom cushions

Next up, fronts....unfortunately ran out of the multi-x cleaner and the bissell stain pretreat I had been using, surprisingly the backs cleaned up pretty well, stinks the drivers bolster is blown out

I ordered more of the aforementioned cleaners, going to give the bases another shot to see if they will clean up some more

With that all done, next up was CV boot replacement....I am not sure the axles have ever been out of this 375k mile car, they were pretty stuck in the hub, which is unfortunate b/c I buggered up the threads on the outer axle flange....m20x1.5 die in coming to see if I can chase them.

Once removed I started the disassembly process but the outer flanges are proving to be difficult....some people will "slam" them down in vise jaws to get them to "pop" over the snap ring, others say drive them off with a brass punch/drift, I've tried both at this point, spent too much time on Tuesday trying to the one side off that MUST come off, the other axle is small so the outer boot with fit over the entire axles, whereas the long axle is a much bigger diameter.
Decided after quite a few days of solid work to step away on NYE afternoon to go have a happy hour been with my wife, this is a tradition of ours, our first "unofficial" date was on NYE, before we officially started dating, so its nice to keep the tradition alive.
Until next time, Happy New Years, wishing everyone of Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2025!
