Thanks guys, I'm super excited to start working on the wainscot this weekend, hoping it will really give it a finished feel.

I am debating painting the extinguisher cabinets red....thoughts/opinions?

Just a suggestion, and probably too late since you have the fire extinguisher cabinets already……..

Take a look at these https://elementfire.com/ They don’t require annual service to maintain them. They have more capability and less mess.

Even Jay Leno likes them

Just a suggestion to look into.

Made some progress yesterday, found out that this roofing is shockingly difficult to drill through while up against the concrete….one side is fully secured, the window side still needs the bottom to be drilled and lagged in with the tapcons…

Hopefully get it finished up next weekend and start on trim next

It's looking wonderful. Going to do any built-in shelving? Though the garage is so new and nice, I'd probably just build some free-standing shelving, so you can move it around wherever is best/convenient. Even a relatively small shelving unit will hold a lot of consumables/parts.

Thanks all, appreciate the comments.

Its a little difficult to describe, but where one car is in my current basement/shop, I already have one row of pallet rack style shelving with totes, this will actually become my parts storage area, I've picked up some additional horizontal file cabinets to use as a dedicated storage area/warehouse/parts room.

Awesome.

@fouckhest, where did you source the corrugated metal locally? I am currently searching for similar, but preferably rusted/weathered.

Thanks - this all came from Lowes. I believe you can buy the new and then likely spray it down with something like white lightning and it will etch it enough that it will end up rusting/weathering...

8ft ~$22
12ft ~$34

Unfortunately I had to buy some 12ft lengths b/c they didn't have enough 8ft lengths, which is annoying b/c it made no sense that the 8ft is cheaper per linear foot

Was it in-stock? If so, where in the store is that kept? I walked my local BLowe's this weekend and couldn't find it.

Yup, in stock. In the roofing section (check the website, it will tell you the isle/bay location), they didn't have any 8ft in the store, they were out back. I told them what I needed (20x 8ft), they had 13, so I had to get 5x 12f to make up the difference....then ended up with a couple 8ft left overs, but they will got to good use in the basement.

Unfortunately didn't get much work done over the holiday weekend due to almost non-stop plans, but I guess that's what its about, right!??!

I did find a couple hours Saturday morning to get a little shed organization done; nothing crazy, but definitely a good start.

Yard tools hung up...

Ladder collection (courtesy of my fiancé, well the big yellow ones)....next step will be to get the leaf blower and weedeater hung up out there.

You may not think this is major, but it will be for your piece of mind regarding organization. Regarding the ladders, I need to get mine hung up, similar to yours.

Oh, 100%.....I still need to get some more work done out there and clean up a lot of the spare lumber I have, its all on the ground under the metal roofing, its next on the list

I have the exact same dilemma. What is your plan for storage of the lumber?

Unfortunately dont have a great plan yet, I was thinking about making some shelves to mount on the brick wall above the A/C unit. I've got some 2"x2" angle that would make fabricating a couple shelves quick/easy.

I think that will help me limit my hoarding and continue to not impede air flow for the unit.

Took Friday off to work on the driveway, weather was in the mid to upper 70s here, great day to be outside, although, I may have under estimated what I was in for....6cu yards of crusher run later, I was completely exhausted

Couple before photos

Decided to build a landscape timber border, debated fabricating something, this seemed to be the most cost effective/easy solution...quick trip to the local Lowes...

Border complete, they are all have 3/8" rebar through (at a minimum) the bottom layer, where there are 3 layers, the rebar goes through 2 layers, then the topper boards are attached with a 4" deck screw

Fun fact, 6cu yards of crusher run is ~15k lbs....I spent a little more time leveling things out yesterday, but here is the finished product

A little detail to show the grade and slope I am working with/around

After ~2months I finally have a car back in my garage....obligatory glamor shot, lol!

I actually really like how it looks with just the little night lights

This looks spectacular! Well done.
Thank you!

Looks awesome. Now you need to take some time off from taking time off.

You gonna let that Mk1 park inside too?
Thanks, eventually it will get to live inside. Hopefully sooner than later, time is my biggest obstacle at this point, I need to find a miata for the driveline swap I want to do, but like many things, the prices are dumb right now. But I definitely want it out of the back yard.

That roll up looks great!
Thanks!

Yeah, I had to do a double take on it. I had a 337 back in the day. Loved it. You've done a great job making it look like one. Need the shot-peened BBS's though!
TT225 motor rocks. But as they say, the 1.8t nevar loooooose! Ah, good times.

I saw that 337 sticker/door number in your garage and meant to ask! That’s awesome you had one!

I like the shot peened RCs, but these wheels are OG early 90s 2pc goods, DTM Kruez 10, I lusted after these wheels when I got my original GTi back in 2002.

I go back to the original bulletin-board Vortex, and was wiped clean after the first big crash. OG I am.

Me too, oh the good ole days of keyboard warriors, forums moving so fast it was a full time job to keep up, womp womp lol!

I caught so much **** for swapping a VR6 into a Harlequin because it was "a collector's car". I did that swap in '98. Look at all of them now!

Do you still have it? That’s the real question? I remember in the late 2000s they were still dirt cheap

Nope. I sold it to a guy that lived in Maine, but now lives in California. Vortex did an article about the car during the sale, since at the time I was dating the author/writer and Vortex moderator.

*They give me a shout out at the very end of the article in case you were wondering what my real name is.
