I just closed in the back carport 32'x12' with 15' ceiling. I included it in my shop build because I wanted to be able to park my motorhome under cover. I wound up getting rid of that beast of a money pit before I finished building my garage. I won't miss it.
I ended up using the space for general non secure storage. The problem was when it rains around here, most of the time it blows as well. I couldn't keep the weather out so I just closed it in.
I found an almost new 9'x7' door for $100. I only need to get the lawn tractor in and out and be able to roll a pallet jack in and out from time to time, so that door fit the bill perfectly and the price was right.
To make best use of the space above the door I whipped up this 8'x12' mini mezzanine. It consists of 2''x8''s, 3/4'' plywood, joist hangers and lag bolts. Total cost around $150.
I'll have no problem loading it up with car parts.
Bear shown actual size. I wanted to be in the picture because it's my garage and I built it. I needed someone to take the picture though. I enlisted the help of the bear because I'm home alone for a couple of weeks. He wasn't any real help. He just sat there. He wouldn't even hold the camera properly. I got frustrated and just decided to put him up there instead.
Thanks for looking.

Looks good to me, great use of what would have been wasted space!
