is that little white door to the right of your toolbox maybe a fireplace cleanout or do tell?

Good work with the bench! I think that's good to have some area on wheels, will do the same. I bet it will be a pleasure to work on that bench. Be careful though, it doesn't need more than a day to be filled with, you know, everything

You can buy triangle brackets for hanging a tabletop on the wall. But I figured since I had extra benchtop material, why not build it myself.

Yes, the little white door is a chimney cleanout door. The house actually have chimeny, but no fireplace. But a fireplace or gas oven can be added later.

Like you, I believe a small trolley with worktop would be nice. I have a search with e-mail notification going... On the Norwegian version of eBay, finn.no. Or I'll build it myself, as soon as I finish the welding course. And get a welder

Today I actually got to use the garage for what it meant for

A couple days back I put up a some tool boards. And hung up some of the most used tools. I guess I'll move the tools around a little. As I experience what is a good layout. But it is a beginning.

But... On the actual use of the garage.

I recently put up our daily driver for sale. And then, of course, the fresh air fan started chirping when running at "idle". Apparently this is a common issue on the Audi A4 B8's in cold weather. And now it is pretty cold here, down to approx -15 deg C (5 deg F).

So I found a few guides on how to access the fresh air fan motor. Remove glove box. Remove fan control unit. Release snap on motor module. Twist. Unit falls down.

Bell end of the motor was full of dust. Gave it a thorough spray of brake cleaner (As I was going to lube the bearings anyway). As the bell end bearing was the lowest point when mounted, I would not get help from gravity, getting the grease where it needed to be. So I applied some lithium grease and used the heat gun to melt the grease. Then rotating the motor. And repeat a few times. Managed to place some grease on the top bearing, through the fan blades. And on that end, gravity will eventually help. Installed it all back in.

Hopefully the "bird" behind the glove box is gone now.

Very satisfying use of the garage It was reasonably warm. Dry. Good lighting. And I had everything I needed right there. Computer, tools, lubrication and heat gun.

Q: I stopped working on my own cars when I needed to buy a new tool(s) for each one and they started using computers to tune them 40 some years ago. that said i've done some basic stuff and i've always hated under the dash work. nice fix on the chirping bird.

the new tool boards look great. if you might need a few more ideas or have some of your own to post like your cool bench and your method of using a corner that you need access to here's a thread i started a while back and there are a few ideas i've done in my little garage in my own garage thread.

While the engine is out of the 944, I am using the occasion t remove some surface rust from the engine bay.

I have been waiting for warm weather and the snow melting to take a proper wash before starting. But the winter persists here in Norway. Became a proper dirty job to to this inside, at the car club. Had to collect all liquids used and vacuum it up. And all that follows.

But I got the job done And have now got a coat of two component epoxy base coat.

Next step is applying a couple layers of red. Using a brush. Proper racing finish

I am switching to a later model 944 fuel rail. As I have broken 2 of the early rails. The early ones have some mechanical weeknesses, prone to cracking due to vibrations. But then you need to replace the soft section of the fuel lines.

There are multiple of the 944 racers that are planning tha same, so I got 3 sets made when I was at it.

And we replaced the family transporter. It's a 3 year old VW Passat. Motorized enough to pull a car trailer with a 944 on top

And we spent the easter holiday at the family cabin, some 120km north of Oslo. Making our own cross country ski tracks 4 days in a row. The top in the picture isn't particularly high. But you get a pretty good 360 deg view.

Got the engine into the 944. The engine stared within 2 sec on the starter This work was done at the car club I am part of.

Got the car ready for the race week-end at Vålerbanen in May. Another race week-end at Rudskogen in June. Got a 3rd in one of the races
