Hi all--

This is a great site with lots of information and a bunch of people who really know what they're talking about here!

I've been working on cars since I was a kid, and became the family wrench when I was 13 and dad passed away. He left behind a really nice selection of vintage Craftsman tools, and that set me on my way. 24 Years later I have way more tools than I know what to do with, but that doesn't seem to slow down my purchases. Getting a job with a shop that has a Snap-On dealer around every Monday isn't helping, either...

I'm into Mopar muscle cars and we still have a pair of 1970 Superbirds that I grew up with. I work for a small classic and exotic car dealership as the resident tech guy, photographer, press guy, parts department and all around nerd. It's the job I was born to do.

Photography, music appreciation, HO trains, WB road runners and a few other interests rounds me out.

Thanks for having me, and if anyone has any muscle car questions PM me...I retain useless knowledge like few people I know.

Thanks!

Doug

We're the people with the two blue ones on Memphis in Brooklyn--the urban legend cars. They're like Kevin Bacon...everyone knows someone who knows our cars.

Welcome Doug!

Sounds like you will fit right in here.

The first car I ever bought was a '69 Roadrunner w/440 & 4spd.

I have a nice '68 Charger now, but always think about get another Roadrunner that is just like my first...

Welcome from a fellow Buckeye!
I have thought of pushing my mother down the stairs to get a Superbird.
Unfortunately she has no stairs at her house

Welcome to the GJ from VA!
Just helped a guy pull a clutch disc out of a '69 Roadrunner... First one I ever saw that basically snapped every rivet/standoff leaving the center section completely separated from the rest of the clutch, and the springs in a pile. One heck of a second gear he must have hit with that basically stock 383...
Mopars rock!!

well, I have a different Odd story about clutches. The throwout bearing died in one of birds but the clutch would grab at higher rpm. When I took it apart, I saw that the friction material on the pressure plate side was completely gone, and it only grabbed because there are centrifugal weights in the stock 440 and hemi pressure plates. I could get the car to move by revving the motor until the pressure plate clamped so hard that the car took off, metal to metal. Very fortunately the flywheel wasn't damaged. Even like that I could pull off a full throttle speed shift and bark the tires!

Those old three-finger units were a kneebreaker, though. I have a Centerforce dual friction in it now. It hits like a hammer on a powershift.
