I think your oven is a little different than the one i had laying in here. Or yours is just very changed in the conversation process. Its a pretty cool use for such an oven though. I could have sold you that oven but a guy came and got it yesterday for $200. Mine was an old subway oven that was just sitting storage until we sold it. Im happy it's out of my road to be honest.

Made some new long tool holders for tbe garden shed. I had a sloon door rack made with 2x4 open frame that i slid tools into and it worked ok but too up too much floor space.

This new system works better, takes the same wall space and no actual floor space making it easier to park the mower and atv in the shed.

They are build out of 2 2x4s horizontally and some plywood triangles and back plate.1e88af9e0546a34f860fec0a151fe180.jpg
I ran a vertical 2x4 from purlin to purlin, which are 2x6s, to hold the racks on the wall at various heights.a52a601da0c7f794c618fe58f75441c3.jpg

Writing that last reply got me thinking my next spring cleaning projectnis gonna be all the stuff grandpa (and i) have tucked into the rafters.

Theres everything from concrete tools, metal building trim, leftover insulation, and scrap wood, and some projects that i have collected peices for and never started.

Time to get the drive way cleaned so i can pull out my garage queen (96 camaro rs 30k original miles) to safely (mostly saftey for the car, im often second i can seriously see me falling off a ladder just so something doesnt scratch the paint) to clean out the stuffni won't use.

Anyone nearby need all the metal trim for a super nice doghouse or small chicken coop, or bunny hutches... not really sure how useful 4' corners and drip edge are. Stuff like that inwould rather give away than throw away but I know i sure cant keep it.

I mentioned my rolling tool chest on another members forum today so i figured i would do a write up today to show what it looks like.

I made it out of some big leftover peices of 3/4 mdf from the miter saw workbench. The chest is 48h x 36w x 24 deep. It has 6 drawers on 22 inch full extension drawer glides. That does leave 1.5 inches of drawer that doesnt extend but not really a big deal. She rides on 4 swivil castors.

I made the top drawers 4 inches deep and then the bottom 2 are 11 and 13 inches deep. Im no master carpenter and drawer glides have always been difficult for me. If something is a little out of square or not measured just right i find they either bind or go off track. On this build I discovered that small #10 flat washers tapes to the drawer glide as shims works amazing for getting alignment just right.

I do mostly woodworking and wanted a chest that would do well for wood power tools. I have looked at many different brands of tool chests. My dad drives 18 wheelers and the guy be works for has a shop with 6 full time diesel mechanics and between them there is a lot of chests to look at.

My favorite is one guys blue snap on box with pnumatic tires. And is probably a 6ft box filled to the gills. It and its tools cost more than my house. And it still doesn't have room for 3 circular saws. Mine could hold 8.( i only currently have 2 but you never know what the next garage sale may have).

Another deep one for drills and routers and the like.866069c0cad02b95ad840a82fab66b4a.jpg

The top 4 are drill bits, wrenches, some pliers and screw drivers, 1 whole drawer for sockets, rachets, and impacts, another for joining tools like naikers, stapers and some glue stuff.
a29f9ad752648df30c47b755e1597a62.jpg935e6dd89dd6d5cfaeda07c6af4010d2.jpg

Most of the exact placement of things in the drawers will keep changing as I clean and organize. It will change a ton when i put the 4 drawers on my assembly table. All my most popular tools will move to the table and this chest will be less ised stuff.

Ive been debating putting a clamp rack on the side of this chest. I need one and I haven't decided if its going to be better on the wall or the chest.

Well i made my way into ameture auto body work. It felt a lot like sanding sheetrock joints only with power tools... Makes me wonder if body filler would be the way to go if it were as cheep as mud....

Anyways here's what you all want.

Been awhile since i put anything here. Still working on and in the shop though. Here's some shots of some neat metal drawers i bought for 10 bucks a peice for storage on my assembly table.

Not quite a pro tool cabinet but probably as close as i will ever get and not too shabby for $40 total.c2bca10c2f3b15a6ae1a0b52aef93f94.jpg470de2a9a2e46ff8a1e296f0e3081eaa.jpg

Got all the metal cabs installed. Cant get over how nearly perfect they fit. Its like i built this table just for these cabinets i didnt even know exhisted lol.431cca749e4d172579333c2723cc33da.jpg

It's too bad the drawers are not full extension drawer glides. They open 70-80% and are friction glide but are small enough i am not worried about weight so much as the black hole that exhists in the back. Still very pleased.

1a6a768cb632ba1a8aa318b10554440a.jpg

Still getting stuff organized in them. Gonna take some trial and error to find how i want to store tools. Need to get some painters tape temp labels too so i can find stuff.

I love it here. Also the interstate is the absolute worst path through 75% of the state. Rolling plains and little rivers, small patches of woods and friendly little towns. Its actually great.

Pretty low cost of living and big sky country. I love the changing weather and amazing sunsets everyday.

Now sure its not the grand vistas of the rockies or big northern forests with lakes everywhere (although we do have pretty good amount here too). And our cities are quite small in comparison to most but that's not even a bad thing all the time.

Ive traveled enough to find midwest small town people are just the best. You can't hardly walk for exercise without 5 people asking to stop if you need a ride somewhere.

Part of why I haven't posted much here has to do with me replacing all my windows in my house. Even though its a house project it really effects the shoo as having 9 large windows stored in the shop that are now gone really makes a difference in cleaning it out. Which is one of my goals with this thread.

Here's some pics just because im proud.2afe892926a5637dec94b582ea123d36.jpg

So fun story about sizing replacement windows. Got online and found out how to measure. Easy peasy. Measure height and width in 2 or 3 places to find smallest point. Then subtract 1/4 inch from height and width to ensure fit.

So take my measurements to menards and order windows. Guy is reading back my measurements and they sound wrong. I ask whats up with that. He says the computer automatically removes a 1/4 inch. I say i did that already. Lets fix it.

He says "well if the windows are too big and dont fit you have a major problem and they cannot be returned" That made me nervous as im spending like 3k here on windows...i agree with him and we dont change it.

Well guess what... The windows didn't fit. They were too small and went right past the exterior stops (which is what holds in a pocket frame window in case you havent done them)

So i was still stuck with 3k of unreturnable windows that didnt fit right. Thankfully i came up with a simple solution. Cut out all the exterior stops and make them bigger.

The orignal stops were about half inch and the windows almost fit. So i cut them out with a combo of circular saw and recip sawing and replaced them with .75 plywood.

This created another stupid problem. All my window trim was cladded with nice custom bent aluminum and my house is already vynil sided. So i had to rio off all the aluminum trim cladding and replace.

I did learn some neat new skills and got to play with some fun and unique tools at least. Oh and spend a small pile of money. Oh well. Here's more photos.
7667a576e17f3e7be1398f65d76b09ed.jpg77cc8c193f5486da0bf20b25822779f1.jpg

Those show the new exterior stops and making them flush with the trim so the new aluminum cladding would go on easily as possible for me.

e49da9c9d73e4e27bf61ca4ed95ed071.jpg5ff2af669a604b24a26cc3b95f4c837a.jpg

Measure with a combo square and transfer to material instead of trying to use a tape measure.ba4d977648ac818a41c77925490b66ec.jpgae2ee1948869c1b937b61611312b4e2a.jpgb03395941ac6b89ff5e7f208f1eed01f.jpge572233ee7d52ff244bdea1c066443a9.jpg878c137563b652b278d3ac53d6fa02d3.jpg

Bend, test fit, notch, bend notch and fit.

698bb16ace728488b7ea9f3c635f6c28.jpg75b95510f07dec08fb15337577158aa8.jpg474c685d9967513cab39ac809000ab22.jpgeee67cc1293a54444aec41283bf9fae2.jpg

Some shots of my workflow area. 10ft trim bender (rented) then outfitted a worktable i got free from trash as a metal working bench. Built a neat holster for my nibbler. Extended the 4ft table to 8ft with some 2x4s. The gap in the middle of the 2x4s was useful for ripping it down. Also lots of clamps to keep the trim coil rolls managed.

368f6a2f6c33916852b74fd49510f84e.jpg

Shot of and after before. Makes a huge difference and i hate painting so big plus there.

572979f87a63d08ea01d809f13bbd381.jpgf8943b4c85ac64614b22951025517c92.jpg

Some finished shots. That big 3 peice window was a bear to move. Its all 1 peice and probably weighed a million fragile pounds (honestly 200 tho) and was nearly $900 bucks on its own...

And for fun here is how 1 guy movea a 100 pound 10ft long trim bender around the house6347817cddbac3e94960785601650d5c.jpg

Thats a 6 pnumatic wheeled, 2x4 framed homemade garden cart. Its 54 inches long and is great for moving weird heavy stuff. I had a 700 pound concrete slab on there once when we moved an air conditioning unit.

Funny, I just posted about not seeing many threads from NEBRASKA to another ex-pat GJ'er, Outlawdrifter, and here you are. I guess I haven't looked hard enough! Just started reading, but already very interesting! We're both from the Gering area, way out west.

My smallish medium sized compressor lives in the hole under the miter saw bench next to the desk. Its hardlined and i installed a ball valve to drain its moisture out so i shouldnt have to move it. I also have regulators and full pressure quick connects at most of my drop lines so i dont have to crawl down there to adjust pressure0063edf2322740e03bfa77226d821ea7.jpg

Please, change out the PVC airlines before you have a dangerous incident:shocking: Lots of info on here why. Don't want to sound critical since I'm new to your thread, but just thinking about safety and seeing more of what you do.

Windows look great and should help with heating and cooling costs a lot. Cut my gas bill by 60% by putting insulated windows in our home back in Scottsbluff-9 basement windows, 12 dbl hung upstairs and a 4'x6' picture window; then we moved to Arizona.
