My New Anvil

A few days ago I posted a question about an anvil my Grandfather bought. He had no intention of keeping it, just bought it thinking I might be interested in it. Well long story short, I am the new owner of a 90 lb anvil. My first anvil I might add. It is a Vulcan which I know gets a lot of hate, but I'm happy with it, I'm not a blacksmith, so it should easily outlast me. And I am aware it has some chips in around the top, part of the reason why so many Vulcans have bad reviews. Anyway, it is a Vulcan model 9, and the date on the bottom is 1896 if I read it correctly so I would say it has held up pretty good for it's age.

For some reason, I don't see many Vulcans around here. I mostly come across Fisher and Budden anvils from the late 19th century.

Thank you for the compliments. I had been doing research about Vulcan anvils and heard some comments about how they are 19th century Harbor Freight and one guy said he wouldn't walk across the street for a Vulcan. To me, if it was such low quality it wouldn't be in this condition at 120 years old.
