My new Beaver scroll saw

Hi All,

I just scored this Beaver scroll saw for $15 at the local White Elephant sale. Apparently all it needs is the motor gone through. Anything else that all of you experts can see that is wrong with it/missing?

Apparently, blades are still available out of Canada but just in case I heard that people cut down band saw blades. How is that done? I have side cutters and tin snips an a Dremmel.

If that takes 6" Blades, you'll probably end up with sections of band saw blades. You can score them with a three cornered file then snap them off.

Yours looks to be a model JS3100 (24").

I have a couple of the JS2100 models (18") and I haven't really done any sawing yet, it looks like the best solution is to extend that upper chuck by an inch so you can use the thinner more common 5" blades.

6" blades are not common, but you could try these guys.

I have had good results with clean and strip type discs for rust removal. Try them out first before committing to your project JS table.
