found this in a thrift store today. overall in pretty good shape but needs a repaint. has the original locks/keys, the top tray, and a build date of feb 1975. the mid box has a slide out that locks the drawers,as does the bottom of the bottom box. i paid pretty good for it at $150 but i like this style box, and they just don't show up on cl here.

Nice. I like that style Cman box too. I think $150 is a fair price. I wouldn't have any problem paying that.

Great find, you did well @ $150; and the mid-box too!

I still have a set just like that one, my first box. I don't have the mid-box, I look for one on CL, every once and a while.

Great deal.

that is cool! i had bought a bottom older craftsman box but previous owner was so crazy with yellow color so he had painted it from normal red to yellow. i am fine with it since it is look like not even use.... it felt like built as TANK! but i am plan to use it to keep my little use tools or equipments that is not heavy as i keep heavy tools in Lisle or on shelf...

Who knows?
I'd pay that in a heartbeat.
Love those old Red & Grays.
I've got a smaller bottom box like yours. Looking for a mid and top box.

I'll say you **** for getting that box set if it came with keys.

I wouldn't repaint it though. I would clean it up, maybe put a little rust treatment on any serious rust but, I'd leave the rest alone. Dings, scratches, nicks, etc. are patina for an old box like that. Use it as a daily driver not as a trailer queen!!!

$150 is a good price for that 3 pece set! Right now I have 5 grey with red drawers bottom cabinets and 4 top chests but no mid chests. Jsut picked up teh latest one today, 1966 5 drawer with bottom storage section cabinet for $150 with some tools.

Found one similar to that at an auction last month, but I like that you got the center box too.

Awesome find and a good deal at $150. I bought my tob box with an early 90's bottom box for $100. (Then I sold the bottom and my old small box for $110). I'm waiting for a bottom box to pop up nearby so I can have a complete set.

I like these CM boxes. I bought both my top & bottom used at different times.

The mid-boxes are rare.

I re-painted mine with Rust-Oleum hammered #7213502 - Silver, but some guys report very good results with #7211502 - Deep Green. From the paint chips though, it looks too green.

BTW - I wonder why some new posts don't show up when I use the "New Posts" search button. Didn't see the posts until I searched on the posts that I'd made.

Thought I'd 'killed' another thread. :lol_hitti
