This looks great. I wish I had the time to do this. Something that would be sweet is a front panel to hide the boxes so it looks like an ordinary bench and will also help keep your boxes safe from damage or theft. A pull down panel, I may be in over my head. It's still a sweet set up!

I kind of like the way it looks without a front panel. Besides, there's no way you can remove the boxes from the front. You would have to take the wood top off and lift them up from the top. Somehow I doubt anyone (especially in my neighborhood) will be stealing these.

Thanks for the positive comments!

Great Job. Just picked up a 13 drawer and when the wife lets me I plan on picking up the 54 inch box from Harbor Freight. Then it's my turn to copy both you and Steve.

looks great, I know you will enjoy it, My problem was trying to figure out which drawer to put what into.. Good luck.. Rich

Yep, I'm having that same problem. My top right drawer is filled with sockets (in Hansen trays) and my top left drawer is filled with all my gunsmithing tools and fixtures as well as my Bondhus T-Handle Allen wrenches and cleaning supplies. That's about as far as I've gotten.

That turned out very "clean"! Any plans for an upright at the back to stop stuff from falling behind?

Actually I'm more concerned with overhead storage cabinets at the moment. I'm thinking the standard Craftsman red/black overheads would match the bench perfectly. Thoughts?

Then I'll move onto a peg board and a small 4" backsplash/upright for the back. Unfortunately that side of the garage has a 4" concrete lip that sits out from the wall on the floor. It prevents my bench (and blast cabinet) from sitting flush to the wall.

Love it. Custom, "outside of the box" designs are the best, as they inspire MORE "outside the box" thinking! Good job.

It does look beautiful.

How much does a custom frame like that cost? To get the boxes into the frame, did you and your friends just take out all the drawers and muscle the boxes in, or use a cherry picker to drop them in?

I paid $200 for my welder to fabricate the frame. I took a ton of pictures from Steevo's design and asked him to come up with something similar.

Those International boxes are pretty light. I had two other friends help me. One guy on each side of the box and I just stood underneath guiding it down. Two people could have done it easily...three was a piece of cake. If you were really strong, you could probably do it yourself but only because the International boxes are relatively light.
