A couple of months ago I posted on CL that I was looking for a milling machine, and got a call from a guy 50 miles north of me with a Deckel FP1 that was in pieces. He got it from a tool room at Husky, and wondered if I was interested - well sure...

It came in pieces, and I now mostly have it back together. Everything seems good so far, but the horizontal spindle had been taken apart and I'm waiting for grease to put it back together. Once that is complete it will be ready to run. Once I have run it for a bit I will undertake a full clean and paint - I figured I should wait on cosmetics until after I know it is a good machine.

Price=$600. So far I'm happy.

Please pay no attention to the mess in the shop...

And it's on:

It is still really dirty, but like I said - I'm not making it pretty until I know everything is happy:

And Finally, I got the 3 axis DRO mounted and working - seems good so far!

Wow...Excellent find. I'm just putting the finishing touches on my FP1 that I found for $500. Don't yet have it under power, but am real close. Mine is the older lever machine. Can't wait to hear it run.

The Deckel is the best manual mill ever made. For $500/600 you both stole them. Obviously you put in sweat equity, but still a huge suckage.

Yeah...I hear ya.

I've had to put another $500+ into the machine to get it up to speed. Mine came with a 440v motor, for instance, and I was lucky enough to find a 220v original motor to replace it with.

Here's a before and after. Hope to have it under power in the next week or so.

Gmoushon,

Sweet looking Deckel. I figured I should ask - do you have an extra pulley for the motor? Mine got a bit broken, and I'm trying to figure how to move forward...

Is that a MT4 or 40 taper machine?

I just ordered "The DVD" with all the manuals for the machine, which hopefully will clear up the few remaining parts I have in the box.

How much have you used yours since the restore?

Have yet to power it up...hopefully soon.

I have had a good experience dealing with Franz Singer in Germany for parts. You can email him via his site...I used Google Translate to help with the German, and he is very nice to deal with.

Sent you a pm on the other questions.
