Sorry for digging up an old thread but I love this place and everything you have that fills it! I love the fact that you have a old Halibrand pattern! I live just north of the town that Halibrand was based out of so it awesome to know someone is preserving it!

Thanks for the compliments! Feel free to dig it up anytime. It reminds me I need to do more in the shop and post more photos.

Halibrand in Culver City was the glory years. That's back when the real magic happened. It's really sad to see where the company went after Ted sold it in the 70's.

Glad you like the cars. Each one has a special meaning to me and relate to a specific time in my life as a kid.

I used to walk to school everyday past a 1934 ford pickup. I asked the guy a million times to sell it but he never would. Always said he was going to work on it. So when I was old enough I bought one. I still drive past the guys house any time I go back home. He still has it sitting there. LOL

The AD series truck was the first "Hot Rod" I ever built. I started when I was 14. When I was 18 I had to sale it for some reason so when I had better means I bought another one. (or three..:))

Each one has a story and that's why they are special to me.

Last weekend and this weekend was huge for the compound.
We had a Bar B Que out there last weekend and I think I may be over my emotional "hump in the road" for working out and around the place.
I got all the garage doors aligned and functional,
All new sealer around the doors.
Cleaned like a mad man and organized items as I went.
Moved in more cars.
Next weekend we are raising the roof to fix the sagging joists.

Now I have a fridge full of beer and Rum that I may never be able to get rid off by myself!!!!!!!

It is getting crazy and I am loving it right now.

Here are a couple action shots:

Looking good N8! I wish I had that kind of space. Love the dragster frame too.

Thanks Kev.
When you get the chance check out the build thread on the coupe over at the HAMB here.

Once I start into the F.E.D. I will do a build thread on it also.

That´s a pretty impressive shop you have!:beer::drool:
Also a big  for the cars, bikes & "stuff" you have.:)

Thanks Scuderia. I won't rest until I have a 76 GTB prancing pony in one of those bays...

P.S.
Kev - You will appreciate this. Those cars shown above in the "Bar B Que" pictures are all club brothers and came to Las Vegas from Wyoming, Utah, North and South Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Oklahoma just to name a few.
All driven here for Viva. The maroon roadster "Primo Special" received the "longest drive" award at 3500 miles each way I believe.
They had to cut it out of a garage with a chainsaw the day before they left because the house it was resting in got hit with a tornado. It destroyed half of the house, the garage and the only damage it took was on the rear deck lid. (hence the little band aid if you can see it) Built by our guys at Sinister Hot Rods in Ohio.
A lot of these fellas made the drive not only for the show, but also to make a documentary and raise money for the Task Force Dagger Foundation. A lot of them are Military, all Special Forces. Great memories for a great cause.

The compound

Well after a few short years all 14 bays are now full and we have an official name that has stuck between the history of the place and friends.
No it's not the Drug Den, but it'll stick good enough with "the Compound".
We have everything from a 2003 Jetta, 2002 3500 dually, Econoline van, motorcycles, and an assortment of hot rods filling the space.

I need to lurk around more and get some better ideas for organization.
I keep getting some rare old school flathead and racing equipment.
I ave also decided to rent out a bay to a friend to help off set some of my consumable prices.
Plus he is a union carpenter so ha can grab stuff I need while I work a million hours a day and fix my header/trusses with his pops and jacks.

I tend to bring in more hot rod parts than actually organize.
Here is the latest project. Very traditional Blown AV8 coupe.

This is the real start of the B and B Speed compound.

Here is the latest nasty creation:
1930 Model a Coupe with:
three speed side shift ******, clutch, cage and plate.
Got two side shift linkage boxes.
Got a couple column mount shifters and columns.
Got a box full of Flathead accessories.(dizzy's, wires, fuel filters, gas and water pumps.
(I still don't have a good idea of how much is there yet.)
Got a rear to mock up before the Culver rear even touches the project.
Got umpteen sets of heads for both early model 21 stud and 24 stud flatties.
Got a good set of Offy aluminum heads that will be used on the project.
Got a torque tube, which I am still not sure if I will use closed or open drive line.

I am talking to a friend right now, who is using my shop. who has a complete 36 Zephyr dash with gauges, pulls, boxes in pristine shape including the waterfall that I am thinking about using in the project if we can negotiate the deal. It'll be a real expensive and somewhat rare dash to cut in and fit. (NO it's not for sale to anyone else.)

Considering cutting down a 46 Ford car X member for the coupe.
It's real beefy, but the weight will disappear when it is trimmed to fit.
Not to mention I very much like the looks of those X members.

Goal is still to keep ALL parts pre 50's (in spirit). Got a great start.

I'd finish the walls and epoxy the floors too. Of course it's harder to do that now that your stuff is in there, but I can't imagine not having done my floor now.

I like the Compound! :)

I agree boss but I can always move the stuff around and out.
Its the $9000 that kills me for the floors. I have 3200 sq. ft. between all the bays excluding the three car attached to the house.
I have thought about Racedeck but still that would run me over $10000 for all the floors.

$9000?! :headscrat

I spent $200 using stuff bought from Home Depot (3 kits) and it gave me more than enough for a 24' X 32' garage...768 sq feet. It's a good product too....not top of the line but very good for home use.

Keep in mind I am dealing with 4000 sq. ft. total. assuming I had someone do it because of time constraints due to my job, it's a 31 year old pad with 31 years or gunk and grime. That alone in labor and laydown is where I come up with my number. My main shop is 33" deep by 100' in length with 5 bays.
GOD I hope I am wrong........

Well slowly but surely I am getting somewhere.
I cleaned up a bit. Well rather, I took stuff off the floor and put it on the walls. I think that constitutes cleaning. My issue is I work on my cars and collect old parts more than I clean so I never seem to get anywhere.

Anyhow here are a few recent photos. Some of the organization attempt and a few of some recent engine acquisitions.
