Believe it or not the computer issues finally went away (knock on wood). I still think it was something from the garage journal site. All is good for now. As far as the shop things are painfully slow. When it takes me three or four days to put a sheet of plywood on the wall because I can not breath well you got the picture. I am thinking that there will not be any more CHEMO. I will tell the quack on Monday I will not be back.I was told there was no way to tell if the chemo was doing any good that it was just insurance. It has been a month since my last treatment and I still can not function well. Enough belly aching about my problems some one some where else has worse ones than I.

Hey Walt, glad the computer decided to straighten it's act up. I know it was frustrating. It's ok if you take a while to do something in the shop. Just as long as you feel like doing something. If you don't, wait on it. Just enjoy what you have. I'll check back on you soon.

Walt, I'm sorry that I haven't checked out your thread before now. First let me say I'm sorry for what you're going through with your health. No one knows what life will pile on their plate. I pray it'll be a good outcome now that you've gone through all you have.

Your shop is an absolute dream. I'm guessing your the envied by most members here that want a "little" place to call their shop. I'll be paying attention to how you're doing and what you are up to. Thanks for sharing with us..........Dan

Walt: i've been off of GJ for a while and it looks like you have been too. I hope your reason isn't because your health hasn't been great so maybe send us a smoke signal telling us you are ok. ok?

also happy to hear your computer is working ok or did it go AWOL again and that's the reason you haven't posted in a while?

cheers

Drives AWOL is a good explanation.
The work is starting in the shop again. There isn't much to show for the past four months, now that the CHEMO is stopped I feel like I might live.
I now have spectrum for my internet, TV, and telephone. No limits on anything. The dish is gone THANK YOU. My three items cost me $108.05 a month instead of $230.00 a month. It cost me $1994.00 to get spectrum installed but well worth it. $121.95 a month less. I have never seen my internet work as fast as it does now with no limit. Knock on wood there aren't any more problems with logging on to the GARAGE JOURNAL, the trouble lasted four months. I get my second cataract surgery today at 1210 pm, then a visit to my optometrist tomorrow and no more doctors until November 29. I don't know how to act. Now I can get back to work on the shop slowly at first but it is back to work.

WALT: great to hear you are doing ok. might i suggest that you put a nice recliner out in the shop so if you need to sit down for a few minutes you at least have something comfortable?

nice work fixing your internet and i'm guessing i'm going to have to do something similar cause my bill is more than it should be too.

take care and post up some pictures of even small jobs or more of that great shop if you can and have the time to.

best of luck with the eye work!!

Walt, look at all that insulation! Man, that's awesome. Looks like it should be pretty comfortable as the thermometer moves down.

53PontiacSD as OKIE18 said it is spray foam. Awful expensive but in my mind the only way to go with a pole barn.
I am having a problem getting pictures to load, they are in my comp but when I hit browse they can not be found. I have had this problem before and it took about a month to find the answer.

These pictures are getting ready for power.1 and 2 are meter base for 200 AMP service.
Next is the trench for under ground service. That's yours truly checking the breaker panel.
Last is the north west corner showing outlets and ply wood on the walls.

I know how much of a pain it is to have all my equipment in the shop, and having to work around it. As soon as the shop could be secured I moved everything out of the conex container so I could send it back to mobil mini and save $150.00 a month on rental cost. My time is free so I can spend some on moving stuff around.

Walt, I just read this entire thread.
Very nice shop and beautiful area you live in.
Here in the Texas Panhandle, those rolling hills you have would be MOUNTAINS!
I hope your health continues to improve, take care of yourself first!
I will be following this as you progress.

Walt: i'm hoping your picture posting issues get resolved, but in the meantime take lots of pictures of your progress and your cool shop and post them when you have time and the computer gods are willing.

are you still happy with the sprayed on insulation or have you had it through a winter season yet? also are you planning on putting the plywood up to the ceiling or maybe just 8 foot so you can hang shelving or just have a clean wall and protect the insulation from getting damaged?

best of luck with your health and keep making progress as you can.

i wish i had that much space so count me JEALOUS.

cheers

The first picture is along the west wall showing man door and plywood on walls.
Second is shop lights and copper air lines.
Third is northwest corner.
Forth is 100 amp panel in north east corner.
Fifth is 200 amp panel on the south end of west wall.
Sixth is two of my ignition cabinets mounted on the wall to get them off the floor.
Seventh is my metric tool box and showing ply wood on walls and copper air lines.
I think this is all for now.

Drives I have not had my shop for a year, so I can not attest to the spray insulation performance in the winter. I can say it makes a difference in the summer. If I keep the doors closed during the day light hours the temp is tolerable.
Eventually the plan is to put ply wood all the way to the ceiling. At $20.00 a sheet I cannot buy the 60 some odd sheets that will be needed.
I think I have a plan as to how the shop will be set up we will see how that goes.

Walt: i like the idea of the added quality of plywood instead of the cheaper OSB or sheet rock even if you have to wait a bit to be able to buy it all it will be best in the long run.

i'll keep checking in on you as i have time and feel free to post up lots of pictures as you can and have time cause i know others enjoy your posts when your computer and health allow.

good luck!!

drives and finallygotit I did not think anyone was looking anymore after my last post over a month ago and no response. Been working on the shop on the east wall. Got all except the 8 feet on the north end done . Installed ply wood and painted same. sure looks good to me. I put my lathe in its new home position, just doing that gave me a great feeling of accomplishment. Let me try the pictures fingers crossed.

Hi Walt,

Don't think for a minute that no one is looking at your thread, that is just not true. Many people here will lurk but not post anything, I'm in that camp sometimes. Sometimes I just don't have anything to contribute to the thread.

OK, back to business, the 50 x 80 is looking GOOD!

I know what you mean about that feeling of accomplishment. So, what do you plan to do with the lathe? Do you have any other metal working machines?

Is it starting to get a little cold over there? How's that insulation working out?

Hello Walt,
Every time there is an update I check it out. You have a beautiful place there. One of my favorite pictures of all the build threads is in post #21 of this thread, the one with the heavy equipment coming over the hill like the Calvary to save the day, or build the 50 by 80 in this case.
Keep up the good work, Ron

finallygotit The lathe is my only real piece of metal working equipment. I have a 7/12 band saw, plasma cutter, lincoln 255 mig welder and various other small equipment. I am not a welder or machinist I just like to tinker and hope to get better using the equipment. As of now I am very happy with the spray foam insulation yesterday Friday the outside temp at 7 am was 33 degrees the temp inside the shop was 57 degrees. Today Saterday the outside temp was 29 degrees and the shop temp was 56 degrees. thanks for looking and replying.

53pontiacSD Isn't moving fun. I moved here from CA in Aug of last year. There is still unopened boxes. I look for things I know I have but they are lost. Congratulations on starting your shop I hope all goes well with the construction.
Time and planing are all cheep. When the work starts is when the checkbook starts to deflate. I am feeling very good since not having Chemo for four months. My heart goes out to everyone who has to endure Chemo. Thanks for the reply and the best of luck on the build.
