WALT: pictures look great and even if you can only post up 4 at a time at least they get posted. i wish i could help you more, but for now at least you are GETTING IT DONE.

i know there is a lot more to do like windows, doors, concrete floor, electrical, maybe plumbing and so on but i bet you want to get some of the medical stuff out of the way before you move forward. or is this contractor planning on doing all or some of that while you are going to the Dr. ?

sorry i don't have a clue how you got the frown in front of your thread in the forum, but i know you are smiling today so CONGRATS!!

Drives all the windows are there, and the people door. I need the two 14x14 doors and the 12x12 door. I am unable to do anything right now so all is at a standstill. Maybe in six to eight weeks I will be able to do light work. The basic structure is there so I am happy.

Wow Walt, the 50x80 is looking great, I'm loving the size. At the time I built my 30x50, it was as big as I could go, now I am thinking a "South Wing" because I have plenty of things to fill it up!! Are you going to concrete the floor or just gravel for now?

Floor has to be just gravel for now. I am on restriction from DR nothing over 5 lbs for 6-8 weeks. After that I hope to be able to work on concrete, electrical etc.

Hope your recovery is going well. As other posters have stated Vandy has a top notch medical school and hospital. I do not believe you could have gone to a better facility.

I'm envious of your shop. Mine is 24 X 48, or close to 1/4th the size of yours. But then my shop is bigger than the house I grew up in.

BTW what is the wall height?

I feel better each day, it is a struggle to be a slug. Oh well a little more slug time will have to do.
Walls are 16 foot. The shop is twice as big as the first floor of the house. There is a full cellar under the house to give a grand total of 4000 feet for the house and 4000 feet for the shop.
It is great to have the best woman in the world for a wife she is behind my shop project 1000 percent.

WALT: the shop is looking better every time i see more pictures. i hope the surgery and doctors were able to remove all the Cancer. were they? also are you going to be on Cheemo for a while or just bed rest for a bit?

The doc said it looked good on removal of all cancer, chemo for six months along with radiation. In my mind there is nothing better than a great wife. She keeps me going.

WALT: i wish you the best with the treatments. so if a guy (YOU) is building a 4,000 square foot building is there any plans for what's going inside it? or how many storage units do you have FULL TO THE BRIM just waiting to unload and start packing your shop full after it's insulated, wired, plumbed and the cement floor is poured?

any pictures of your cool stuff to post while you are sort of taking it easy?

No plans as to placement of my treasures yet. I will use it for a while to get a feel as to what works best. I only have one conex (shipping) container 8x40 3/4 full. My shop I built in CA was only 1250 sq feet, thats all I could afford at the time. You never have enough room so build all you can afford. This time around 4000 sq feet is all I could afford.

We Oh!! 75 yards, you now have your indoor kingdom, it will be great, I think with a 4' apron on mine, I had right at 25 yards I think.

cement guys looked like they did a great job and how many trucks did it take to deliver 75 yards to you? any issues with it drying to fast or do tell some of the tricks you know or learned from the crew while pouring such a big pad?

drives I do not know how to get rid of mr frown I feel great better every day. Eight trucks for the cement delivery the crew did a great job I think. The boss of the crew aka as the owner said I should not have any problems. If I wanted to put water on just to wait a couple of days so the sealer will dry thoroughly. To me the concrete is a great milestone. Coming up next will be doors 2 14x14 and one 12x12.

A little update. We now have gutters installed to save the cement at the drip line of the roof.

moving along on Monday 2/27 the spray foam insulation began. Will have a minimum of 2 inches all over the walls and sealing.

Walt: i can't say that i've ever seen anybody shoot that sort of insulation on the underside of the roof. i haven't seen all the garages (especially pole built ones) so maybe that is somewhat of a normal process.

anyway i like that you are getting things moving forward nicely with everything. your dream of a shop is quickly becoming a REALITY. WELL DONE!!

No current plan will probably be grass near the house and concrete by the shop.
