Re: My New Porsche Garage Condo

My son is in the Professional Pilot Program at Purdue. He has his multi-engine rating, his commercial license and began jet training in the Spring. Once he graduates he'll need more flight hours before he can get a job with an airline. We shall see.

Ah cool, that is the hardest program at Purdue to get into, simply because the spots are so limited. My dad lived south of Lafayette growing up so he started at Purdue, but transferred to IU. Two of his good friends from H.S. were professors in the PPP. One went on to become the Department Head, but I'm sure she's retired by now. I'm still kicking myself for not getting my pilots license while I was at Purdue. I didn't realize how affordable it was for students until many years later.

Make sure he remembers the Golden Rule! Stick with flying and stay away from aviation!
Unless you want to be an airline CEO, in which case you don't have to know what you're doing, you can run the company into the ground and walk away with a million bucks and all the flight attendants you can eat! And the starting salary at your next job will be six figures.
Get a real job, make a lot of money, buy your own airplane, and have fun!

Here's a good website for him to check out:
http://thetruthabouttheprofession.weebly.com

Just so you know, I've been flying for over 30 years, 5 companies, corporate and airline, 7 type ratings, and more hours than I can count. Been there, done that.
He needs to go in knowing what he's in for!

Thanks. Yes he has heard some of the horror stories and I believe he knows what's ahead. I'll share the website link with him.
