Here are some pics of my new garage. I'm going to need to get some ideas from everyone so if you see something that I could do, please post up.

My plans are to insulate and sheetrock the three outer walls, the one wall the divides the garage from teh workshop space I was thinking of putting a doorway in. I'm just trying to figure out how best to put the sheetrock up. I can add studs to the exsisting wall and build it out, but I would rather lay the studs flat instead of having them "stand out" if you know what I mean. Reason for this is if they "stand out" my lower ledge around the garage will need additional work or trim work.

Like I said, I'll need to get some ideas. This is what I have planned so far:
* 2 220 volt outlets, 1 to share with compressor and welder and the other if I need to weld on the otehr side of the garage.
* In wall speakers for a clean look
* I have a Modine 60 waitig to be installed
* I am going to run a 3/4 copper loop line around the garage with 1/2 supplies for the air tools. I was also going to run a line inbewteen the 2 doors and make an "old fashion" look alike air pump. Insulated of course and have a shut off.
* Door way between garage and shop

The far left storage area, I'll keep the air compressor in here to elimnate the noise and add a door way to the wall. I'll also add a fan and duct work to vent heat from the garage into this part when I need it.

What to do with all this wall space in the storage area?

Keep in mind I just moved in less than 3 days ago, my stuff looks like a mess now but I wanted to get some pics. up and get the ideas flowing. I don't want to have to do something twice.

Finally where I park the daily drivers:

You have some great space to work with, Mr. Mopar. It's almost too bad that you have to cover up those walls. I sort of like the barn look of the post and beams, and wood plank walls. But I'm guessing in CT. you don't have too many options if you want to work out there in the winter!

I like the wood plank walls and post & beam. I was trying to figure out a way to keep the post & beam look but also insulate the walls and add drywall. It may be too much work to do it that way but we'll see.
Oh and spongebob is staying for now.

It looks like its all cedar, Cutting the drywall around the the framing is a little more work, but would be well worth it imo. Theres a vinyl channel thats for covering the cut edge where it meets the framing.

Then you'd have to rebuild the stairs out of some barn beams.

Where is CT are you. One thought about lying 2x4's flat is that it leaves you less room for insulation. I like the wood like too. I would however take some time to cut around everything. Are you in a rush?

I'm not concerned about the wood laying flat and not having enough room. As it is, the beams I would nail to have quite a cavity to fill, which is one reason why I thought about laying the wood flat, another reason was to make the drywall even around the base of the garage wall.
Am I in a rush? Of course I am aren't we all when it comes to getting a project done(kinda). Once this is done, I'll have about a bazillion other projects. Winter is here and I don't want to spend big $$$ on heating the garage when it goes right out the walls. I want to get the insulation up and drywall as soon as possible.
After studying the structure more, I won't be able to save the wood barn look except for some big cross supports and such. One wall (left bay) will be left the way it is because I won't need to insulate it. I'll be able to decide what to do with that wall as time goes on.
Once I get teh stuff in the garage moved around, I'll get some good before pics so I can have a nice comparison for after. I also want pics so in the future, I will know where all elctrical lines and junction boxes are behind the drywall.

I am in Suffield near Bradley airport. BTW Chuck, I see you are close to breaking into the 12's, do you think you'll do it next year?

You might want to think about using steel studs, not wood. They come in varried sizes. You end up with full depth insulation.
You can get real creative with it.
As far as price compared to wood, it depends on supply and demand.
Sometimes metal is more, sometimes less. Price it at a drywall supplier not Home Depot.

Good catch on the tire. It loses air every 3 days. I just haven't had time to get new tires yet.

You must venture over to Marks cruise on Mondays during the Summer. I usually make it up there about 6 times during the Summer.

Breaking into the 12's with just bolt-ons was a goal for the car. It doesn't look like it's gonna happen as I have installed all of the bolt-ons that I wanted to put on the car.

Heads/cam are next which will put me deep in the 12's. In the mean time I have been doing some cosmetics to the car...new soft top, seat covers and carpets coming up this winter.
