Rich....how high are your sidewalls in your garage? Your first post you mentioned the footprint but not the height. I'm thinking based on the stepladder maybe 12' wall height? Also, when they put the drywall up, did you have vertical studs put in before or just fasten to the horizontals? And if fastened to the horizontals, any reason they ran the drywall vertically? I would think for ease of installation they would have ran it horizontal and also had it so the seams were on the same board so to eliminate any chance of cracking. But if you had studs put in, then I answered my own question. One more question....what size post do you have for the main bones. 6" x 6" or 8" x 8"? Sorry to make you have to answer so many things first thing in the morning. LOL!!! Looking good BTW!!!

The wall height is 10'. The building posts are 6X6's and the doors are framed with 4X6's...

I'm not a drywall guy, nor even a casual observer. I think if I had installed the drywall myself, I would have done it all skewed with broken edges everywhere :wtf:

He did put some additional framing in on 16" centers for ease of future attachments to the wall, but only in the back corners as I told him nothing would get mounted in the center bay that may restrict operating the lift.

I picked up these cabinets from Lowes... the U assemble variety. Not bad.

And finally got some of the rigs back inside

And have been meaning to get the Harley back on the road for a while :bounce:

Wow, hard to believe it's been a year since I updated this. Of course I spent a lot of that year out of the country again for work.

I'm still loving the RaceDeck. Pretty easy to keep clean and takes abuse quite well.

While I was in Japan this year, my wife picked up a broken neon sign. A little google search and used transformer from eBay and I'm in business! Not necessarily my choice of beer, but hey, it's neon!

And the last big piece I've been waiting to get. I already had the 220 outlet in the corner ready to roll.

From a post on here, I rigged up this easier to use drain.

I've read a bunch of reviews and finally settled on this impact. Maybe I'll get to use it tomorrow :)

And a few sockets to go with it...

Your project has turned out very nice! Have you decided on how you will finish off the ceiling? No matter, it is a great space and was impressed on how the RD changed the total appearance of the garage. Nice! Really like the Seabeck area. Some wonderful roads to cruise on and beautiful views.

Ody,

WOW! I sat down and read your comment then ended up reading your entire build thread. VERY nice. Thanks for sharing. I absolutely love the PNW and my little slice of property here in Seabeck. I spent many years stationed at Bangor and have made many trips up and down the Straits of Juan de Fuca... both surfaced and even submerged a few times :D

Oh yeah, that ceiling....

Would like to "finish" it, but still haven't decided how yet. I always seem to find other things to do or end up working too much.

Maybe my ceiling will be my never ending retirement project?

Great build! i love your toyota collection, i just sold my 99 4runner a few weeks ago, looking to pikcup a newer taco soon.

question for you, how do you like the side door opener?

was install pretty easy? I realy like the clean look they give.
And if I ever plan to add a lift its a no brainer.

How does that light work, I know in the directions it says its wireless , Can it be changed to any style of light id want ?

I'm loving the Liftmaster Jackshaft openers. Think I may be close to getting another to install on the attached garage :) Pretty simple to install, but you do need an outlet close by...

The light that comes with the opener does get plugged into a 110 outlet, but it is wirelessly "synched" with the opener.

Well, out of the blue I get a PM asking a question about my build so I go through and check out the thread. Wow, almost a year since I posted! Not much has changed there. I'm back in Japan working but will be home soon. I have a few new things in the garage since I posted last.

I hadn't really wheeled my off road rigs that often like they were meant to be, so decided it was time for them to go. I picked up a New Tacoma just so I would still have 4 wheel drive when I absolutely needed it. Then I found this really nice 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo. It is sitting in there waiting for me to drive her! A few minor maintenance items to do, but for the age it is really nice and a good runner.

Oh and to keep the thread ON TOPIC, my garage ceiling is STILL unfinished.

Tom bought the FJ80. He flew to Seattle from Chicago and drove her home. He has done amazing things to her since then...

Hey nice shop, cool to see you're on mud also! I'm actually in the market for a clean 80 with lockers, seems to be a good selection in the Seattle area.
Cheers!

I drive a Silver Brick as well (2007 Silver FJ). 120,000 miles on her so far and probably the best vehicle I have ever owned.

Wow, it's probably been way over a year since I cleaned the RaceDeck. It was pretty grubby looking. But I still love the flooring. A wet mop and it cleans up very nicely!

Very cool! So do you find that the Racedeck is durable or does it mark up?

I don't do real HEAVY work out there, but it still looks brand new it most places. The center stall where my lift is gets the most use. It has more oil and grease marks, but I'm positive if I got down and put some elbow grease to it, it too would look fabulous.
