I had a $150 coupon for this in my wallet for a while, but I don't have a HF near our house. Got stuck on jury duty back in July so stopped on the way back from courthouse but they only had the orange in stock. Had to go get a car smogged so I called an verified they had one of the gray (60603's) and stopped after the smog check -no got duh?
Coupon expired on 8-2, but I found another in a magazine good til Nov so on my way back from a meeting Wed I stopped at a different HF and they actually had it.
Went to put it together Thursday only to find the upper double channel was screwed up. No doubt they would probably replace it, but I would most likely need to bring it all back. The problem was the gusset in the middle was inserted crooked and welded in that way leaving one of the channels 3/8" off square.
I decided I could fix it quicker than exchanging it for another perhaps in the same condition.
I need to cut the weld on the crooked side of the gusset and my little HF rt angle with 4 1/2" cutoff even with the guard off couldn't get in far enough to sever it. I used my little Hobart plasma to cut it, then clean it up as best I could with the rt angle.
I used a good sized C-clamp with my two handed Cresent to pull it into square and mig weld it in that position.
Not bashing HF, as I have several of their products but sometimes they need a little help perfecting their tools performance. In this case I could fix it quicker than I could exchange it. If you buy one of these perhaps check this piece of it before leaving the parking lot.
