My new lift

I wanted to share some new pics taken in my garage this weekend. Friday I went and picked up a low rise lift in need of some TLC. My friend Tim and I went with a Uhaul trailor and picked it up. The guy put it on with a fork lift we got it off using egyptian pyramid tricks. A bit of scrubbing, Paint, New rubber pads and some fluid my lift is in the garage. I am so excited to have a lift it is going to come in handy! I found the lift on Craigs list for $400 it turned out to be a great deal.

Looks like a Bend Pak LR-60. I've been looking into one of those. They go for about $1400.

LOL keep your eyes peeled the deals are out there. It is a Rotary Brand Low rise lift. Very sililar to Bend Pak.

The only problem I can see is that the pinch weld rails aren't the best place to lift many of todays vehicles.

It lifts from the suggested jacking points in the owners manual. We used 1 hockey puck on each corner.

I guess the only serious beef I can see with it is that it looks like you'd probably not have room for a creeper under there, and that there appears to be a good bit of uncomfortable-making steel bars around here and there.

Looks cool for suspension/tire work and stuff, though, which I guess is probably more its intended purpose anyway.

I still want one, (tiny) gripes aside.

It is a lift intended for suspension, Brakes, and tires. However my passion is for the rear engined Porsche so getting up under the engine with a creaper is no problem. Not much is is in the middle of the 996 so it is not that much of a burden.

For $400, it's perfect. Sure you can't do everything with it, but you can do a lot. I wish I had one of those years ago.

His minimum bid at $1800 seems optimistic; if he really needs to unload it betcha he ultimately takes <$1K and is happy to get it...

You made a nice find there Could you keep us posted from time to time and leave us know what you like and dislike about your lift. I have been giving some thought of using this type of lift in my garage with my low ceiling . I see with your car that the engine is in the back. This will be a nice addition to your garage. After working as a service advisor for both a BMW and a Porsche dealership, the German speaking techs taught me a lot!!
And yes, there really is very little in the middle of a 996, and if you do have a problem there, you'd probably be much better off at a body shop anyways!
Very cool - do you use the space on a daily basis (ie - drive over the lift everyday to get in/out) or do you have another regular parking spot?
