Lots of permitting and a full foundation for New England winters. A slab would've been thick as h*ll due to the sloping backyard.

After waiting all spring for the rains to stop, the garage was this far on day one...

and this far on day two. Waiting to pour the floor, add the garage doors, entry door, window and siding. I'll wire it myself in the meantime. Will have my Model A project, a couple motorcycles and benches/tools etc. Please save the 'it's gonna get small real quick' comments. I've heard it already.

Thats gonna be a neat little space. When I moved into my house it had an old 13x20 and I managed to get my tool box, compressor, bench and my project Mustang in it. Sure, it was tight(the car doors hit the wall) but it worked and trying to keep it heated was good with 2 small electric units because of the size.

It takes some serious planning and organization, but it can be a decent workspace. I laid mine out with the compresor in one corner, tool box in the other, bench alondg the back side wall and the rest was filled with some miscellaneous stuff. This way i had room to move around and actually WORK on the Mustang. It was a good set up until the thing started to lean and I tore it down and went 16x20. Mush better with the extra 3 feet.

Out in the garage working now, thought I’d take a few pics of my setup. Long way from where I want it, but it works for now.

Back wall with 4’w x 7’t x 1.5’d cabinet for random junk and tools on the left. 7’ x 2’ work bench, peg board behind and a small tool box. Small 17gal compressor, hose reel, and some totes under. Cabinet on the right is 2'w x 7't x 1'd has doors and holds anything liquid. My vice is on that side, the doors help keep sparks from hitting anything flammable when cutting / grinding steel.

Another bench on the side wall 8’ x 2’. It was originally a fold up design, but never got folded up. I need to add better legs.

Looking out you can see the HF folding trailer on the wall by the overhead door. The motorcycle work table takes up a lot of space, but for me is well worth it. Future plan is to recess a lift table into the floor. Old VF500 on the right, and one more SV sitting outside that gets parked in here. It’s tight, but luckily I only ever plan to work on bikes in here.

Not sure if these pics help at all, but I’m in a photo whoring mode tonight :bounce:

I'm used to tighter spaces, so this is a Godsend. Its all about the planning, and I feel that no matter how big you build you'll always find a way to fill it up.

Garage door guy came out on Friday to measure up and show me the options. A little OT shift today takes the sting out of the upcoming quote. Said it'll take a few weeks to make the doors, so pic's will have to wait.

sbhockey ==> nice bike stand....you get them up there with a ramp? You just gave me an idea for working on my ATV.

Apologies to OP..this question is a bit off topic, but my shop is 12 x 26 so I'm always looking to save space. Car work, the little I do, is done outside the garage door!

The double garage doors will help with space; no need to rearrange everything when you need just a little more room. Its either out the back or out the front.
