My New Ratchet

My new ratchet that I have no idea how old it is. The link here:

is very similar but still not exactly.

Anyone have any insight?
I got this as a gift from my dad who bought it at an antique store. He did not say, and I did not ask how much it cost.

I have the same rat, C-man BE series 1930's IIRC. Clean and lube the guts, you'll **** yourself on smooth it becomes.

i have one too, 3/8's....extremely smooth.just afraid to use it and break it myself.

I have a 3/8s Craftsman like that in it's original box with matching tools. They were made by New Britain. New Britain also made the same ratchet with several different names on them.

I have a Husky 1/2" ratchet that looks exactly like yours. I understand that this era Craftsman, Husky, and New Britain were made by the same manufacturer, whose name escapes me. Anyway, nice ratchet!

The detent ball (someone please correct me on the name for that part) is missing, I was wondering if I should try to replace it? Also I would like to clean it up without losing the age. So does anyone have any suggestions for that?

I have a craftsman of my grandfathers like that. I thought a cover was missing. Kind of ugly to me but I may clean it up since you guys like them.

I would clean it with some wd40 and a old tooth brush to start. Maybe a ball bearing will work for that detent ball?

I have one labeled New Britton. Half inch. I'm missing one of the small screws, and have checked several well stocked hardware stores and haven't had any luck. Evidently an odd size-pitch. Anyone have one for sale off of a parts ratchet or a parts rat. For sale?
