Two questions....what are the dimensions of the building? And secondly, on the truss cross boards (whatever they are called) that the metal roofing gets fastened to....how are they fastened on. They look like a 2x set on its side. But it also looks like a plate fastened to each one, which I would imagine would be a hurricane tie. Is the plate the only thing holding the 2x4 on or do you fasten thru the 2x4 to the rafter also. Nice looking building BTW.

it is 26' Wide, 30' Deep and has 12' walls.
the 2x6s on the roof are held on with metal "L" shaped purlin clips supplied by Socket Systems with the rest of the hardware I bought. The clips are screwed to the 2x6s and the 6x6s. They are the only thing holding the purlins on except for the gable "trim" pieces. I was a bit sceptical at first with them, but they are pretty rugged and once everything is tied together it seems VERY solid.

Is that siding tung and grove or lapped in some way? Thats a lot of crackage to seal. And do you have the bottom of it sealed up so those little critters cant get up into the insulation?

It will have batton strips over all the seams once its done. The boards are 1x8" and the battons are 1/2"x2". It is sealed at the bottom, there is a 2x6 between the siding and the concrete.

Nothing major...I havent been on this site in a while either. Its still isnt done :(
All I have left is to finish the front wall and hang the overhead doors. Just too busy with my house to work on the shop. Maybe this year.

very nice garage, I've been interested in this system as well. I like the open interior aspect.

I know this is an old post but I am looking into this system.

Is this the stock 30deg roof? What is the snow load in your area?

Also, would you do it again the same way if you had to do it over again?

Looking to build similar in N/E Washington (50+ lb. psf)

Thanks much for sharing!

There is some indication that Socket Systems are out of business, can anyone offer suggest similar alternatives?
Thanks

I rarely come on this site anymore, but lately have been browsing pics and threads for motivation... Its been a few years, and to be honest, its still not done. Lack of time and money. I have fully moved in and it is quite full of ****, but has been serving as a fully functional shop for me for some time now. Last winter I finally got my 200amp panel hooked up to the power lines and have been picking away at wiring as needed. Just installed a 60 gal/5hp air compressor last weekend. it is lit with 4 high bay metal hal lights that turn it into daytime in there when needed.

Most of the exterior is finished, short of some trim and remaining batten strips for the siding. interior is next.

I will have to post up some updated pics soon. Feel like I should clean up a little first...
