Whats up. Long story short, I'm moving into an apartment with no garage with a friend to save some money and help me pay off some of my divorce debt. Here's my current garage:

I don't think it'll all fit in the car port at the new place :lol_hitti
My parents have an old shop on the back of their property that used to be my grandpa's shop back in the day, it's been pretty much used for storage for the last 30 years though, he's been gone for about 10. They agreed to let me use it for all my metal working stuff. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves; let me know what you think, first project will be a loft, and then a total re-wire.:shocking:

Cool building, I have not seen one of those doors or the round light switch in many moons. Not sure what kind of neighborhood your shop is in but I always worry about too many windows and tools for security reasons. Maybe that is not a problem in your neighborhood but if it is I would add bars to the inside of the windows and beef up the door and lock. Some more power, lights and outlets and you should be good to go.

Now that is so cool.
A real piece of history that you can continue on in.
Looks like a concrete floor, very handy, and I like the doggy door!
Maybe just beef up the electrics and you are ready to go?
Oh and rehang all your old signs, they'll look great in here.
That tilt-up end door is just the perfect design; your grandpa had the right idea.

What is the grille up high above the window for?

Congratulations on 'rebuilding' your life!

I beefed up the locks already, i threw a huge bolt latch on the garage door and a big padlock on the inside of the man door. Boarded up one window since the glass was missing, re-boarded up the old doggie door, and nailed the other window shut. So hopefully that will be good enough lol. It is in a decent neighborhood but its also off an alley so I definitely wanted it secure.

Thanks, I'm excited about putting it to use again. I spent a solid four hours cleaning 30 years of dirt and **** out of it. Still needs more cleaning. The grill is a blower. Basically an evap cooler without the water part. I put some oil in it and it started right up. It'll be great for clearing any fumes out of there when i'm working.

The electrical is the worst part though, the whole shop is wired to a 20 amp breaker that is shared with the kitchen in the house. I'm hoping an electriction can add a 60 or 80 amp breaker and run it over to the shop for me for a decent price. Is above ground wiring allowed anymore on new stuff? Right now its wired via a huge wire that runs from the roof of the main house over to a funky panel inside the shop. Thoughts? I intend to run my tools off an extension cord instead of the plugs in the shop for now, but it would be nice to re-wire it if i could do it cheap enough.
