Built it last summer. Finished just before the snow came. Family loves it.

Great looking place. I get a kick out of (and like the idea of) couches next to the workbenches!

It hits all the needs for us for sure. I can do my small projects, family can hang out. When I started on it I just wanted a space to store my things but one idea turned into another. We are pleased with the space though.

Size?

I can't fathom a shop staying clean enough to have couches lol but I guess it all depends on your usage.

Ya, I do actual work in mine 5 days a week, it,s hard enough just keeping grease and mud off the floor.

Very nice "shop"........or "family space".

Floor looks great.....was it done before or after the pics with your stuff in there?

Before. The diamond grinding is quite a project. I don’t see how you could work around something like that. In some spots we had lines of mud at least 5 inches high. Finished product is worth it. I just open a door and use a leaf blower. If I have a spill, mops right up. It was costly, but Im very happy with it.

Another thing. A lot of these professionl flooring companies had no clue about polished concrete. The first 3 I had come out didnt know what a densifier or guard even was. They just tried to sell me on 10k epoxy floor systems and refused to answer my basic questions. No thanks. I ended up at my local John Deere dealership and noticed how nice the floors looked. The manager gave me the info on who did their floors. He came out, I asked him a couple questions, hired him on the spot. Half the price of what the epoxy guys where quoting us too.

See attached.

I like the floor! Really is nice. You have the same size shop as I do. Maybe even the same color scheme on the outside.

Very nice, how are you heating it?

Ill be looking for options for heating come spring. Sort of ran out of time last fall. Interestingly enough, I was out there today and it was warm enough to get away with a just a hoody.

Ill probaby go with a propane tank.

Easiest and insurance approved is propane. If insulated good enough it doesn't take much and you can leave it on the cold side other then when you plan to be out there. Wifi programmable thermostat and it can be prewarmed. I had detached wood furnace and a pellet stove. But they are harder for insurance and requires more work -like you being there. In floor takes to long if you want to raise and lower but is nice if you spend a lot of time.

I like the idea of a wifi controlled thermostat.

Very nice looking place. The only time I've got to see a floor diamond ground is when they replaced a floor in one of the building at work and the contractor accidently put down a broom finish on the concrete.

Mind if we ask how much it cost you?

I dont mind. its interesting to know that I was originally hoping to keep costs below 40k. I quickly found out that there was no hope at all for that!

Driveway and pad-7k
Building- 28k
Interior Package-11k
Elecrtical, cat5, ethernet- 9k
Concrete-9k
Concrete polishing-6k
Shelves-5k
Furniture/tv/sound system-8k

I run HULU live and can stream pretty much anything including live sports, Netflicks, and YouTube. Having YouTube out there is very useful for me.

Wife wants a stained concrete padio/firepit/landscaping this upcoming spring -11k
Still need heat but I have it all ready to set up.

So with what Ive done and with whats left, real close to 100k, I figure.

I could have completed some of the work myself to cut cost, but this was started literally the day after I had disk replacement done and took a 3 month leave of absence from work. I got to see it all, from start to finish. I just relaxed and hung out wth the crews. Pretty cool summer.

$40K? :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Yeah....it's called price creep.

I built my own garage....I only farmed out the foundation and stucco...and roof....did the rest myself....20x25 (2-story) and I still came in at over $30K

2020 **** Pack Challenger. Its completely stock right now, but I will be making a few cosmetic changes in the up coming weeks, along with installing a ceramic coat. The dealership drilled holes into the front bumper to put the license bracket up. Honestly, I don't know what the dealership was thinking but it was almost a deal breaker for me, but its easy enough to fix. I will concentrate on getting more power to the wheel when the simple stuff is done.

Really nice looking space !!

I read your other thread about "just build it now" and I couldn't agree more !! We've been planning a new farm shop for a long time and wish it'd have been the first thing we did out here. We've spent most weekends out there with the little people squad since it things froze up outside and made lots of memories so far. Mostly them hiding my tools and putting electrical tape on everything lol.

What are of MN are you in ? I'm guessing SW unless you dove a ways to get that beautiful Challenger

Just think of the memories your kids will have with you. It’s something that they will remember forever. Something that can’t be bought.
