My new Snap On Guy

Recently I moved to another city and changed shops. Last month I bought a new blue classic 98 from my new Snap On guy. Everyone told me he is a flake. The box came less then a week after I made the order. He knocked a grand off retail and used the rebate to cover the stainless top. Also included the cover which goes for $200 itself.

I gave him a void cheque to set up my payments. Every week I checked my account to see if SO had taken anything and for over a month no payments were made. So today he came by and I asked him about it. Aparently there was some sort of mix up. He apoligized and payed 3 weeks worth of payments ($153) from his own pocket. I must admit I was suprised but he insisted on paying it for me.

I am used to getting a free hat here and there from my SO guy but nothing like this. 2 weeks ago he came by asking if I can show him how I organized my box. I opened my top drawer containing all my sockets and he noticed I am missing 3 1/4" sockets from my SO set (5.5,7,11 shallow). He walked back to his truck and returned with the missing sockets and a flashing "S" hat for free.

I must say i am impressed and have no problem being a $100 a week customer with him.

If you spend good amount of money you are VIP customer. If you are just browsing, then it's a different story. :D

Good to hear stories like this. I didn't buy my box from my dealer but he still treats me well. Usually free hats and shirts but I'm happy as I'm not a high volume customer compared to some.
Oh, and congrats on the new toolbox!

The problem with guys like that, who wheel and deal and throw a lot of free stuff your way are the ones that don't last. I love it when you get a guy who will knock $30 off a $150 tool and if I get anymore tool hats, I would have to put up a garden shed. Then one week, they're going out of business. I have had 4 or 5 dealers like that, but never one that made a payment.

Oh, he also noticed I had the first generation 24" dual 80 flex head and replaced it right away!

Thanks Canuckian, I've been meaning to take a few photos but the shop is always buried with work, so there is never time :(

But its this one here:

Wowowow hang on. So he gave you free tools and made several toolbox payments for you. I feel ripped off now!

Are you really "cute" ? Maybe he is secretly gay and trying to get in your pants through tools! :bounce:

If he comes with a hutch for my box I will bend over!

But seriously, I just recieved my latest order a few days ago.

3/8" and 1/2" wobble plus extension sets and a 9 pc torx screwdriver set :) Recieved a week after I ordered it!

Having a good dealer makes all the difference. My dealer doesn't do quite as much free stuff, but he makes up for it by giving me killer deals. If a special is coming up he will tell me about it if i try to buy something too soon, so that if i don't need it right away i can get it a little cheaper in a week or so. So overall i won't trade my dealer for anyone.

my snapon guy is a REALLY nice guy, and I feel I get pretty decent "deals" from him, but, he is VERY forgetful. been waiting over 5 months for the rest of the trim to show up for my box... I've asked him to order it at least 3-4 times... he says "already ordered"... then the next time, he says, "oh, I'll get it ordered today".... in 2011 I've probably spent 10K+ on his truck... box included....

I just changed shops myself and the guy here is awesome. He likes green so he's always got cool stuff. He also handles the shop my dad works and my dad always spoke highly of him and now I see why. After dealing with him I doubt I'll buy tools anywhere else now. :)

Your Snappy guy sounds like my old Mac dealer, a guy who would do anything to keep you happy and spending. He knows that a few hundred in freebies to a good customer (not just a guy who spends $5.00 a year) will turn into thousands of dollars in extra sales.

I wish mine was the same, i've been waiting for an airline coupling for 7 f**king weeks!

That's great. I ordered some extractors from my guy this summer. Took him a little over 4 months to get it. Not even making this up.

My Snap-on guy was nice as hell to me until i told him that i am gonna wait until summer to get the box i have been wanting/looking at. Never once has he given me a discount on anything, and i am always current on my truck account. I spend about 150 a week..

Great post and great thread. I believe dealers who take care of their customers and who are there for you deserve to be recognized.

some tools I get the next week or 2 other its literally months. I always ask "do they not make them anymore or are they on backorder" sometimes by the time it does come in I forgot I ordered it. my old matco guy was worse. I would order something wait 3 weeks and if it did not show up I bought the same thing from the snap on guy and made the matco guy sit on the special ordered item

your snap on guy sounds awesome. mine will not give more than a couple dollars off the deals get better if you want to buy multiples.

That's great. I ordered some extractors from my guy this summer. Took him a little over 4 months to get it. Not even making this up.

One of my old dealers had a set of impact sockets "on order" for 6 months. In the end i told him to go swivel, bought them off the website and had them in two days. If i had actually needed them, i would've got them sooner.

The last dealer, i ordered a socket from him almost 18 months ago, still waiting on that phonecall! Took him 3 months to get me some impact extensions, when i told him to forget it and cancel the order they magically appeared a week later.

I did have one great dealer, got me everything within a week, always looked after me, did me deals, gave me free stuff. I spent a lot of money with him, because it was so worth it. The current dealer doesn't get so much, i'm selling Snap-on tools to him!

I guess i should note I'm a cash customer. I always see members who post about great deals, great drivers, etc are usually cash customers and carry no truck account or LONGTIME customers......or just lucky as hell like the guy who started this thread. Im sure this is not always the case but I wonder if its preferred by the drivers. Not a tech but a $200-400 a wk customer. Any drivers want to throw two cents in?

My Snappy guy is great, lets me know what deals are coming, throws me some freebies every now and again, and heck he calls when he spies a Chevelle sitting derelict because he knows I'm a hoarder of them!! I'm normally a $100 a week customer and he constantly reminds me how much he likes that I pay at least half that because it takes him everything he can to get $5 out of some of his customers.
