My new soon to be man cave

My wife and I will be closing on a home in a few weeks. Just wanted to post some pics and get some ideas on what to do with the cave. It is just under 1600sf inside and the carport is about 400sf. Now i need some ideas on how to set it up.

A little more information would help us help you. Looks like about a 40' x 40'. What do you plan to to do in the space? What do you have to put in the space, tools, cars, other toys?

I think setting it up would more depend on what you are going to use it for?

The garage is 35x45 and the carport is 35x12.5. I will be using it to work on a few toys that I have. I was also thinking on the one side to do a hang out area, fridge, flat screen, couch, maybe poker table.

The garage also have a few 220 outlets

Here are the toys that will be going in it to start.

I like it.

So looking at the first pic, the house is on the left with a garage of its own? Then the big garage is behind a seperate gate? If that's the case that'd be awesome. House garage for parking daily drivers and storing Christmas decorations and man-cave for everything fun.

For the man-cave I'd devote a corner, furthest from the doors to a lounge with a bar & fridge, giant tv (facing the rest of the garage) and couches. I'd also want to lay down some sort of durable flooring to separate it from the rest of the garage. And you say it has more than one 220 outlet? So an oven could go in there for chicken wings? Maybe I'm going a little overboard but the garage is huge enough that it wouldn't interfere with anything for most people.

DO NOT ALLOW ANY HOUSEHOLD MATERIALS IN THERE DURING MOVEIN. I made that mistake and it has taken over two years to get stuff out that is not shop related and just "temporaly" stored there. If you hear " I'll just put it in the shop till I figure out what to do with it." Just haul "it" to the dump and save the energy and steps to do it later.

It looks like you have some opprotunity to insulate and get a ceiling up.

On second thought lock the shop up during move in and keep it locked for the first month you live there. That way you will not allow the **** you currently own to balloon into a volume that consumes the shop. Get your life in the new house settled and sorted then open the shop and enjoy the new space that is not being pressured by **** needing a place to land.

Nice Fox bodies. The wheels that you chose for your LX are sharp. Good justification for the 5 lug swap.
Your garage space is a very impressive size. I will look forward to watching it develop into something amazing.

Wow, a grass lawn in Phoenix. Last time I was there it seemed that most "lawns" were either gravel or carpet.:) Nice place and a great space.

I completely agree, though I think it's a problem that he could easily avoid. If I were in his shoes, I'd consider the attached garage "her garage". Like a decoy garage. She can put whatever **** she wants in there even if it means you have to park the cars outside. It should also be a very easy sell since as it has direct access to the house, she won't have to go outside.

I used our unfinished basement as "her garage" and she's turned it into landfill. I'm happy since I never go down there.

No garage is hers. . . . . . . I like that set up alot. Very nice place if you dont mind were are you located. About how much is the avarage in that city for a place like that. I am in california right now and would love to go out there.

We have been looking for some time for a home with seperate garage. You can find them out in the phoenix area for under 450,000 but few and far between.

The good thing is that she is into cars so she liked the idea of the purchase. She has a supercharged mazda miata.

cant wait, should be in the house in a few days. Already have two seville workbenches and the big rollbox waiting to be put together.

I agree with putting a lift in and how about an area about 16x16 or 20x20 for the man cave area, complete with flat screen surrond sound. small bar, table for cards. just a nice place to go and party or whatever without the mess in the house.

I probably will frame of an area for a hangout area and they put a/c in the room. Garage is too big to cool the whole thing in arizona.

Dining room table and chairs in the corner of the one shot...so she won some space did she...LOL!

I tried to stand by my guns of nothing that isn't garage related allowed in the shop too...right now it has a pile of gardening equipment being "temporarily" stored in there :(
