My new "stolen" welding table

I'm retiring my old welding table and building myself (2) new welding tables combining some stolen ideas from all the great tables on this forum. Currently I have a 2 1/2' x 5' table that has worked good enough but is lacking in making my time as efficient as I would like. I made it out of W-beams and scrap angle iron laying around the shop. It has done me right for 5 years but it's time to move on. I plan on building (2) 4'x3' tables that I can join together for larger projects. I'll try and find the tables that inspired my build as I'm not much of a drawer. I'm going with 4"x4"x3/8" box tubing for the legs and 2 1/2"x2 1/2"x3/16" box tubing for the frame so I can use 2" box tubing to mount different accessories. The top will be the flat plate style spaced out to allow clamping options. I want to enclose the table so I can keep my welder s in it so they're ready available. I finished cutting all the material today and should be able to start the welding during the week after work. Below is my old table and all the cut material.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1434852677.715121.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434852693.214417.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434852705.706167.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434852718.440375.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434852728.166313.jpg

Thanks Sublime. Found pics of some of the tables that inspired my build. I don't know the all member's names as I found some of the images by just a Google search but I'll be taking a feature of each that works for me.

I also read a post by a member about using a pallet jack to move his table instead of putting wheels on it and that is the direction I will be going as I like the ease and maneuverability of using a pallet jack, which I already have.

Started mocking up the parts to see if I like the way it works and it looks good to me for now. Instead of tapping just the box tubing or welding a nut I decided to weld a 3/8" plate and tap it and the box tubing at once. I wanted a little more strength where the set screws are going. Got the plates cut and beveled before we went out for Father's Day lunch. Hoping to get them welded up when we get back.

I was able to get some welding time in today and finished welding the reinforcing plates to the box tubings. I welded all four sides which I think is overkill but what heck.

I used 7018 3/32" and 1/8" rods and a Maxstar 150S. Gotta go get more rods so hopefully Airgas has some Hobarts or Lincolns as I don't really care for these cheap Radnors. Old stock I had for awhile and they don't burn nice but it worked.

24 plates all welded up so I can drill and tap for the 1/2" set screws(bolts) tomorrow. Now off to dinner with the family.
