My new (to me) table saw

I picked this up this past Saturday. It was given to me by a longtime friend of my brother and father that worked with them as union carpenters. It has been sitting in his garage unused for many years. The table top had rust and pitting but I have cleaned that up. The entire saw was repainted at some point in it's long life, and I plan on repainting the cabinet. I stripped the paint from the miter guide and polished it, cleaned up the fence and sprayed it black. For those interested it is a Craftsman 103.27270 model circa 1954-56. The gentleman that gave me the saw is the original owner.

Nice saw. For usability and safety, take off the homemade switch, turn the box to face the front, and install one of these:

It's an under $20 investment in safety.

Actually the easiest way to do it would be to buy the switch, a new box, and a close ****** and siamese the new box onto one of the side knockouts on your present box.
