My new Wilton 400s

After reading this forum for a bit, i found all the courage I needed to take on my own Wilton Restoration. I'm looking forward to working on this sucker over the next week or so. Got a good, not great deal on ebay after deciding that i just had to have the biggest baddest Wilton i could afford.

I'll likely use the alternative pin removal (found that link here too i think

) - using a hex wrench to pop out the pin from the inside...makes a lot more sense to me.

Thanks to the community for all the great info that you shared. I'm looking forward to applying that to my own restore.

Not sure why you guys feel the need to remove the tube nut on a working vise like that, I wouldn't bother. Seems to me it creates more problems than it fixes. I've restored a few bullets, never felt the need to remove the nut.

You raise a good point 454...I just got it, will have to spend some time examining the inner workings, see if its in good nick, which i suspect it is. What i don't know is if i can clean it well enough without taking out the tube nut. Honestly, I hope i can avoid it.

Yep, it can turn ugly fast trying to get those pins out ....

Agreed unless there is a problem where ya need to get in there just let them be.
