Hi All, parts will start to arrive this month, so hoping to get going on the shop. Just had to move out of my last house so am missing my 41x28, seacans full and cars stored else where, but didn't realize how much stuff I have untill you move...

Basic Pole Barn Structure Laminated 2x8's every 8ft etc etc... Pics of ground clearance coming next week. Bought a old Ford Back hoe / Tractor as I'm the nutter thats likes to everything myself... Its either that or I hate paying others to do what I can do myself...
Here's my 16x35 back in the UK

Seems after further review I did need plans for my new barn.... Geerrr not what I was told, but that's life.. Starting to clear the ground with the digger, good news its very clay based solid soil, its just a ****** to level off. Will take some pics tomorrow....

Barn Layout 1.JPG

Just a quick layout drawing so I can plan the Floor heating circuits etc....
There will be 3 zones, slab all one piece but it helps to minimize the heating bill if I can separate the build area and the Chassis / Welding Machining area from the rest of the space..... If it just means I get a 5 deg difference in temp then that's OK with me...

I will, at some point in the next 7 years, be building a new house near my new workshop/shed and the house will have ground-source-under-floor-heating powered by solar panels.

I am also thinking of something similar for the workshop. However, the workshop may not be cost effective for this method of heating. Good insulation will be sufficient most of the time as I don't need 20 deg C to work.
I have a large area I can use for the heat source and this is currently quite a popular method of heating a home in the UK. Not sure it is applicable in your climate as during the winter you don't get rainfall to move the heat in the soil past the pipe. I suspect you need to go borehole ground source over there.

Had an electrical mate of ours call in on Sunday. He tells me the time clock is against you at present with mother nature curtailing your plans to get much done on the new workshop before spring.

It must take a bit of adjusting to the way working outdoors on any construction basically shuts down for a few months over winter. I am close to getting my planning permission, then there is the finalisation of the purchase, so likely to be new year for me too. But as soon as it is completed I can at least break ground and get started. Even if it is frozen!

How is the digger? I hear the battery was the starting issue but the ram in the leg had a seal leak.
