I knew it would hit a spot with someone. It did with me and I threw down some bucks for it. I looked for a toy on line that had it's look and saw a gilbert erector set that fit the bill. The machines were stamped metal pieces as mine are castings. The photo I saw was made in 1913. I contacted a man from a website he gave me a free appraisal. He said This was made from 1918-1922. I assume it's an erector set Gilbert? He had never seen one before assembled. He has a new old stock in box and would like this one for display. He appraised it for 750-1000. He then offered me 750 when asked what he would give me for it. I have listed this on ebay last night for the 750 he would have given me. I know nothing about toys. This is the first one I have ever purchased. I bought it because of what it is. It was old and touched my heart. It works fine and really is not much to watch go round and round. If it were a real shop it would be a nightmare to work in. Osha would have a field day. In ten days I will know what it's value is. I had to throw down for it. Having played a good game lately makes it easier to take chances. Looks like I did good again. Glad you all enjoyed looking at it.

Why did you not sell it to the guy if he offered you the same price as you have it listed at? He probably would have really appreciated the piece.

It "touched your heart" so much that you are going to sell it? You are a seller through and through just coming on here to peddle your wares, don't try to disguise it.

I'll even help you out, if anyone wants to purchase anything this guy posts, search ebay for "419woodbutcher".

I sell to live. And a wood shop I did have. And a picker I've become out of survival. If this bothers you I'm sorry. But if I did nothing you would have to pay taxes to support me. This way should be better for both of us. I expect people on here to enjoy what I post. I was told to educate people and then they will like me. I try but many people on here cant be taught a thing. Just like when I worked everyone is better than the next guy.
What I am is Autistic and a savant in Geometry. Having this disorder all my life I was treated poorly from most coworkers. I never knew I had it until I was 55 or so. Years past working for and with people who made my life difficult. I feel the same here for the most part why is this? Will people ever be happy and not want to kill each other? Will wars ever stop? Will we as a human race really ever get along? From what I have seen I'd say NO. Be happy and smile it may be your last day on earth, we just never know...

Very cool to see this. Reminds me of a working model steam tractor I had as a kid. It had a power take off which you could connect to tools like a table saw, generator, etc. Thanks for the memories. Good luck with your sale.

There's no doubt that there are people out there who will pay crazy money to own something for no other reason than they want to possess that thing. Me? I'm content to let others own that stuff and I just enjoy looking. I'm pretty sure someone will give you your asking price. I would like to see a video of it in operation.
