Traded one of my .22 rifles last night for this

IMG_20130317_221556_zps231de45f.jpg

5 Drawers, and if i didnt have my top box on it, theres a sliding tray with storage underneath. Also has small compartments all the way aroujd and two cup holders in the back. Condition is a1 with the exception of all the stickers and the key is broke off inside. Both easy fixes. This set up will house my extra stuff, seldom used stuff and electrical stuff.

Loaded it up today found out it wasn't ball bearing as hoped. But actually I like the fact its friction slides as the top box also is friction slides. Tried looking for these model on google and my guess is they don't make it anymore?

Also, the key needs replaced, as does the one in my other box. Are all replacement keys the same diameter? I remember someone saying HF has a 4 or 5 pack of these that are keyed alike? Planning a trip to HF tomorrow on my way to see my grandma might have to pick up a pack if they price is right. Need more drawer liners anyways. :)

I have that same unit. First tool box I ever bought myself. I think it's actually called a "project center".
You can kind of see it in the background of this shot.

Nice. Also nice HF general and floor jack.

Also tried to search HFs site to look for replacement locks. No luck. Anyone with a link?

I have to ask, what kind of 22 did you trade for? If you don't mind my asking.

As mentioned above. Waterloo does have the locks and keys. Pretty reasonable too. The killer is shipping costs. I tried to order a few keys for craftsman boxes from them. The keys were like $2 each, but shipping was ~$15!!!

Harbor freight might have them, but they may not be listed on their website.

Interesting top box, I have never seen one with so many split drawers. 12 small drawers, wow!!!

the top box is dated 1995. Idk why there's so many split drawers lol. First box my dad gave me. As for the trade I traded a like new savage .22. 50-+ rounds through it. Bought it on impulse because I couldn't find any other .22. Few days later I found two marlin 60s. Which I have a sweet spot for. Both are pre 1983, so that means they're 17 round tube fed instead of 15. Plus they're tube fed instead of mag fed. Older us better too. Guess I'll just ask HF tomorrow when I go. :)

Hope you are happy with the deal. Sounds like the other guy got the better half of the trade on that one. What savage was it?

There are differences in top and bottom locks, but usually they interchange. For the top you will need a cam edge style lock. That is where when you turn the lock the back side has a metal tab that rotates to lock the lid, which then locks the drawer. Some are universal fits, while others can be box specific. I think the waterloo/craftsman boxes are universal fits.

Usually on a bottom box the lock does not have a cam, but instead turns a long rod that extends to the back of the box. This rod then actuates the drawer locking mechanism. Again, pretty sure the waterloo/cman boxes are universal fits.

Hope you can find them at HF, if not there is always calling waterloo or your local locksmith.

It was a model 64. Ya, he got the better deal. But I am very happy though. Needed more box space, sorta. If I didn't find this deal, I was going to shell out the money for a HF box. I wasn't fond of them savage at all because of the magazine feed. the way I hold a rifle, my hand goes where the mag is, so it was a little awkward. I had $160 in it. Plus I like the fact its older w/o bb slides, matches the top with friction slides.

As fat as locks, I think I'll just not worry about it and keep my main box locked with them important stuff. Not like breaking in a box is all that difficult. And I don't have to worry about anyone taking my whole box because of how the garage is laid out. Thanks for all the info
