My Old Gasboy Pump

Just thought I'd share a couple of pics of this inexpensive 1965 Gasboy 390 pump I picked up a couple of years ago. I finally got around to painting it last week while I was set up to paint the hardtop of my '72 IH Scout I'm trying to finish up. Being an International Harvester fan I felt the only color suitable for this old gas pump would be "International Harvester Red". Here's a before and after pic.

Did you replace the lense in it and if so where'd you get it? Mine needs replacing.

I did replace the lens. That was actually the easiest part. I found a sheet of clear plastic at Hobby Lobby for $4.99. I just used the old one as a template. Here's what I used:

I wonder if that was a west coast pump thing....?

Are you gonna put a trademark gas provider sticker on it? ..if so, what brand?

Gas boy pumps were a farm pump on the local farms in my area. I used to sell them in the 80 's.
Most of the ones I saw or sold sat on top of a farm tank. They were also just as common on construction sights.

I've got one of each, a tank mount and free standing. I think these are good pumps to get for someone wanting to have a display pump and these can be had fairly cheap. The little pump all I did was wash it with CLR and then wax it, I also replaced the dials and lense from a parts pump. The free standing pump is awaiting a restore so the pic is as I got it.

I hadn't given that any thought. I'll probably just leave it as is. I wouldn't mind riveting an old International Harvester sign on it if I could find a nice replica one at a decent price.

I decided to put this reproduction IH sign on it. I had plans on riveting it on but my rivet gun wouldn't work for me so it got stainless steel screws instead.

Cool pump! As popular as the pumps with the big globes and clear cylinders are with car people, I prefer the later pumps. I wouldn't mind finding a 60s thru the early 80s pump to have in the shop. It would fit the era of my Scouts.

These Gasboys are my favorites - they have a very clean look and are somewhat more affordable as well.

The little pump I have can be hooked up and pump fuel, the big one I don't think so. There's a lot of these pumps still in service today.

This one actually still works although I'll never use it. Just something cool to mount out in front of my shop.

A little off topic, but does anyone remember some of the first pumps with digital displays? I kinda remember Gas City in Chicago having pumps with nixie tubes for the readouts.
