Chad got me started and I have almost completed this set!!
Chad has been great on showing me links on stuff I need.
The speedwrench is locked up so I still need one and I'm missing a few sockets and a swivel and I think that is it!!

The box is not finished, the hindges need replaced and the color is wrong, I primed it so it would not flash up on me.

whats wrong with the speeder ? What have you tried to get it going?
It looks awfully nice to give up on.

What are you missing from your set? I have quite a few older Snapon odds/ends might help you complete it.

The handle is locked up. I have soaked it with oil and there is no movement.

Damn. How bout clamping the handle in your bench vise but sandwiched between two pieces of soft white pine (so you dont mess up the knurling) then try spinning it that way.

I acted to quick, the speeder I just bought in missing the ball,:(

The speeder in my set is fairly stiff, but not seized. I dont know how these were secured on, maybe an internal snap ring? The early speeder handles were secured with a friction fit pin that went through the knurled handle, and into a grove that was turned into the speeder round stock. I recently removed one from a common 20's speeder that was in bad shape, to instal it on a 1921-22 "4 pinch" speeder, and made a new pin on my lathe.

I have a 1934-35 version of this set that I'll post pics of soon. Interestingly, the box is identical, but has a mid 30's era decal on the lid, under the embossed logo.

I have the F-2-E short extension but the code looks like a upper case "E" after the F-2(1944)? Is that the code or is it somewhere else on the extension?

That is a neat set, with the box and all. I am sorry for the hijack and dumb question, but how do you tell the difference between the older Snap-On tools and the newer ones?
