I haven't done anything on it. I did get a couple of quotes though. One came in at $3000 minus garage door or electrical. The second came in at $7200. Way overpriced if you ask me. I mean, my concrete is already there, and all I would need is about 33 feet of walls X 8 feet tall.
I did speak to a masonry guy too and he said he can raise a cinder block wall for about $2/per block which by my calculations works out to less than $600. I don't mind the way Galvanized Steel Conduit Junction Boxes look. It's more of a commercial look.
I've been reading about insulation and humidity issues that come along with cinder blocks though. I think people end up adding framing insulation and sheetrock over it. I wouldn't want to do that though because I would only have 19X24 feet as is.
I also stopped by the city planning office to inquire about permits. The application process, and small fees are no big deal. I'm just sitting on the application because this is the Site Plan Checklist for which I have a ton of questions, and am probably overthinking things:
a. Exact size and location of all buildings/structures relative to property & Easement lines. (My tax assessor has my lot size listed as 85x300, but I am not sure where the property line begins. I think I have a little more than 85 feet across. A survey may be the best thing for me, but I have not inquired to how much they cost in my area)
b. All means of ingress and egress (Accessway/curb cuts)(I don't think that this is a problem on build site because my house sits a good 100-150 feet away from the curb)
c. All setbacks, screens and buffers pursuant to Section 710 of Zoning Ordinance. (What's a setback/screen/buffers? Do I have to research the zoning ordinance?)
d. Off-street parking and loading areas and calculations. (I don't think this applies, does it? My driveway is a good 100-150 feet long)
e. Refuse collection areas. (What's that? Trash collection areas? If so, there is no impact by my site development)
f. Natural and topographic features such as streams, lakes, trees, and contours. (I think the only thing that would apply here are trees and contours)
g. Grading, drainage, water, sewer, and electric connections and appurtenances. (The only thing that would apply is where I set my outlets/shoplights/outdoor lights)
h. Disturbed areas delineated with dimensions and quantities shown in square feet. (Is this just an overhead outline of the garage area?)
j. Erosion control measures. (Would that apply to an already existing concrete pad?)
Here are a couple of pictures of what I'm talking about...
