well good morning garage journal friends, I have always wanted to tile my garage floor but do to my regular job (US Army) i'm always deployed and never had the chance to get it done. Well back from deployment and I'm finally getting started. Was checking and reading through this site will in AFG through the summer for ideas and such, which by the way was very helpful. I live in Colorado were it gets cold in the winter but my garage is insulated and some what heated. All i can say is cant wait till it's done. Epoxy floor= ****, Tile is the way to go.

Woody,

You mention loving the Reno-V for the ends but I don't see them in the photo. Is that what you're using for the threshold and, if so, how are you going to add since the tile is already laid?

Track t-4 here is the Reno-V i talked about, it's made by Schluter, Quoted from the page "Schluter-RENO-V is also suitable for heavy-duty applications (e.g., entrances to garages or loading docks). In such cases, the adjustable arm is backfilled with mortar

Wow! Looks great! I would be afraid to tackle a job like that for fear I wouldn't get the tiles to lay down flat. Also, my knees would never handle the strain. But it looks like you did a job that a professional would be happy with.

A few months ago I priced the cost of having porcelain tile laid in the garage by a professional. I was quoted $6 per square foot for the labor, plus the cost of the tile I chose. That was a bit more than I wanted to spend.

If you lived in Colorado i would be glad to help you do it. It's not that hard just time consuming and hard on the back and knees!!!

Nice work on the tiling. I can't get a sense of the space of your garage. I've seen a couple different single doors and its 800sq so i'm intrigued!

Great job!

It is time consuming, but with music and some refreshments you can get into the zone.
BTW I use the padded seat from an old chair to kneel on and not knee pads.

Woody, I just clicked in and did a double take for the garage door pic above, it looks so similar to mine. In fact, your whole project feels eerily familiar, but on a much larger scale!

You're doing an awesome job so far and the tiles look great. Keep at it, and I promise there's a light at the end of the tunnel!
