Fantastic garage. I am very jealous of you great detail even with hanging the parking sign by covering the screw and the framed pictures. The wall color is nice to typically white is the color of choice. What color is that i think i might be repainting mine this weekend after seeing yours. Again great job.

Thanks for the compliment. The walls are a warm grey...

The pictures have a special fixing that lock the frame on to the wall - ideal in many aspects, especially when preventing them falling off the wall if you bump in to them.

Quick update, the planners for the garage doors are really dragging their heals. Now taking advice on what style will get approval. In the meantime, the covers have come out for the cars and a heater fitted so I can tinker with the old 911 in the winter evenings...

Awesome. You've actually implemented a lot of ideas I've been having for my soon to start build. Mine is going to be fairly prominantly positioned in the back yard within full view of kitchen, lounge, family and at least 3 bedrooms so I didn't want the standard box panel sides. Glass means many things. I can keep an eye on kids playing while I'm tinkering, I can see my toys from most of the house (pavilion aspect) and visibility means I'll need to keep it nicely organised and tidy. It also makes a good social space when needed.

Thanks again for showing us your creation. I was able to show the wife which gave her good visualisation of my ideas and she's even keener now.
One question though. When the RUF arrives, who goes?

Very cool, not something you see all the time in the UK.

I sent this to my brother, I like your roof-line, and the windows.

Glad it has helped you get your project approved with the boss. My wife still refers to it as an indulgence, which it is, but upon a recent evaluation the garage has added 22% to the value of our house - not that we are selling! She liked that bit...

With regard to the RUF Mecan, neither of my other Porsches will go. The Mecan will be my daily driver. Had the Cayenne before and can't wait for the new little big Porsche. Then I'll be back to a full compliment - front, mid and rear engined!

Whaaaaa, didn't even they were doing a RUF Macan yet...sounds fun.

It won't be a full build (as far as I know). They do 'performance enhancements', which are fitted at the factory. This usually goes as far as:

- turbo kit
- ECU upgrade
- RUF wheels and tyres (tires)
- lightweight exhaust
- alcantara RUF steering wheel

I'm in talks with them regarding this now, but details will not be released until after the Mecan is officially launched next month.

Wow, didn't even know the Macan was official. You sir do not waste time.

Also wanted to note how cool it is that you have such a cool pedigree on your 66 P-car. Been watching and reading a lot about Magnus. He was also highlighted a couple months ago in Car and Driver.

Very cool, keep us posted on the details, I'm fascinated to find out more about it.

I have a rear and mid-engine P-car (356 and 914...storing my brother's '72 911 project in the garage also), I'd love to get a front engine daily driver too...but have to save up some money for that.

Of course, will keep you updated on Macan. Especially exciting regarding the gearbox too - 7-speed PDK. Will be much more dynamic to drive than my old Cayenne.

The 356 and 914 sound cool. Any pics?

Here you go, 356 is nice, 914 is actually getting rust repair and stiffening for a 911 engine install, but here's an old picture of it.

Also a before picture of my brother's 911 we're working on.

356 looks beautiful... And a 914 being developed to be a 914-6 will be superb. Good luck with that and the 911 project.

So the doors have finally been made and delivered. The weather here in the UK has been far from ideal for hanging such heavy doors but I also don't like the fact that the garage is getting full of fallen leaves... That meant they had to go up regardless of the wind.

They look great now they're fitted. Just need some retaining bolts to be fitted tomorrow. My old SWB is due back in a couple of weeks, so it'll have a nice snug garage to come back to...

Paul, Love the carriage doors. I was just notified mine are now built and I should have them within he next two weeks. Hope they come out as well as yours! Beautiful!

P.S. Looks like your 911 has 'marked' your garage as its own in the long tradition of 911 piddling! LOL

Thanks, I'm very happy with them too.

Yes, the 911 isn't house trained. But I've been out scrubbing yesterday with some Jizer and bought a HUGE new galvanised drip tray! Hopefully that'll help!

Nice to see the doors now up.
Did you ever consider the glass sectioned type doors you often see on car show rooms?

Absolutely beautiful garage, very tastefully done

I'm really liking the American Barn style outside lights. I'm looking to source something similar for my own garage. Did you get them locally or did you have to import them from the U.S. ?

Was looking for quite some time to find something that worked... And I found them in... John Lewis! Ordered them online. Ended up ordering them for all around the house in the end.

Doors had to be solid, it was part of the planning approval. I didn't want up-and-over style doors as the mechanism inside is quite messy. That only left one option really but I'm very happy.
