Won quite a bit of money on the SuperBowl this year, So my gift to myself was Racedeck flooring. I called RaceDeck and was able to get the Garage Journal discount which I think was 3.67 a sq ft. I have a 400 sq ft garare, So I ordered around 420 of the diamond tiles the front edging along with two Jackstand tiles. Total out the door was roughly $1800. I also put some synthetic landscape fabric under it to dampen the sound. It wasn't terrible without it. But it did make a big difference having it under.

Fun dual checkboard combo! Good tip about the landscaping fabric. I know what you mean about the sound but I've gotten used to it, and for me it's too late to lay the fabric anyway lol. Congrats on your SuperBowl win and your new RaceDeck flooring!

I saw no reason for a underlayment. I walked on my Free Flow as we laid it and the faint noise seemed to be the sound of our shoes contacting the tiles rather than the tiles clicking against the floor. I guess some concrete garage floors are finished smoother than others. I was also concerned that landscape fabric might slow moisture evaporation and/or trap the dirt and defeat the drainage system built into the bottom of the RaceDeck tiles. CJDave.

Free Flow was much quieter walking on from what I have seen and heard in the multiple youtube install videos I watched before laying mine down. I also don't think I would have put the fabric down if I was using free flow tiles. It would have defeated the whole purpose of those tiles. All my tiles are the diamond tiles so I'm not expecting to much debris to get down into the cracks.

Spot on. The fabric when I had solid tiles helped a lot. Now I have FreeFlow and there's no need. It's dead quiet to walk on with the open mesh format.

Just in time for me to try my install this weekend, and I happen to have landscape fabric on hand! Thanks for tip and Mopar :deathmeta

My only other experience with RaceDeck was my buddy's 2 car garage. I helped him lay the diamond pattern tiles. They squeaked a little when walked on but I don't think an underlayment would have silenced them. I felt like the squeak came from the tiles rubbing each other not the floor. CJDave.

Hey neighbor ~ Looks great! You know, I didn't install the landscape fabric, but wondering if I should have. I guess I could add it later... Do you think it's worth adding it after the fact?

Another great thing about this kind of flooring........IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!..... The stuff pops up so easily you can remove a large section, drop in some fabric, & replace the section.........rinse/repeat as often as needed. You don't need to pad the areas you don't walk on.... :dunno:

I wouldn't add it for the free flow. Mine were the diamond tiles, so they work pretty good for them.

Is it easy to roll on a creeper on the coin top tiles? How abut the free flow tiles? Cant decide whether I should go wth the solid tile or free flow tile. I live in Chicago, so would be dragging in snow, slush, water in the winter and not sure if the solid tiles would be too slippery, but I'd just sweep it out regularly anyway.
Anyone have advice?

At first glance I would say Free Flow but what activities will take place in the garage? No sweeping with the Free Flow. Just a brush and soapy water in the spring with a hose rinse for me. Love Free Flow after 7 1/2 years of ice, slush, snow, rain, grit and whatever else she drags in. CJDave.

I'm thinking the Free Flow is prob what I should go with then, but will a creeper roll fairly easily on it?

I do not have any first hand info but the new style nylon or plastic wheels should roll on it in my opinion. The old steel disc style wheels on the very old creepers would not go well in my guesstimation but those were designed for smooth concrete floors. My tool box, engine hoist, engine stand and Harbor Freight mechanic stool all roll just fine on my Free Flow. CJDave.
