I just got a bid to install pex in my house, garage, shop and woodshop. I'm curious how this compares to work that other have had done.

The following is a quote from the bid - in short, it includes 3,600 feet of pex (for 3,400 sq ft of slab), an electric boiler, all plumbing, low voltage wiring, 4 zones and labor. Does not include concrete or 240v electrical wiring.

Internet enabled thermostats are a $200 option, and I'd probably add one to the living space, so I can have a warm house when I return from vacation.

Thanks for taking a look. I'm curious about what I'm not seeing in the bid, and if I'm overlooking anything.

* Install a hydronic radiant floor heating system, heated by a stainless steel, modulating, electric boiler, in the lower floor only of an approximately 3,360 ft2 home & shop, consisting of the following components:
* Approximately 3,624 lineal feet of Uponor HePex Radiant tubing, 9" on center in the living space, and 12" on center in the shop/garage areas, tied to the rebar in the slab before the pour
* Approximately 15 Uponor cast brass manifold loops, in 2 locations, complete with all necessary hardware, and individual loop balancing valves for flow control management
* All distribution piping to manifold locations, and low voltage control wiring necessary for complete installation and control of system

State of Oregon Boiler package:
-Thermolec B-18UFFB-H stainless steel modulating electric boiler
-Primary/secondary piping distribution system with dual 3-speed Grundfos circulators
-System expansion tank, air and water purging assemblies, and all other required piping
-Low water cutout/pressure switch as additional required safety

Hydronic Controls package consisting of:
-4 individual heating zones, each with its own digital thermostat
-Taco 4-zone management station package
-Thermally actuated/motorized automatic valves, at manifold for each loop/zone as needed

Unless I missed it, how about the foam insulation under the concrete. I did my own system based off of the Menards system and it works great. The most expensive part of it was the 2" Foamular 250. If that is not in the bid, you may inquire about it as it is a must have.
