My Re-handled Beater...

Had an old Snap-On screwdriver in bad shape, and figured I'd give the handle a new home after seeing a lot of y'all get creative.

Here the two are with swapped handles. The K-D is the new paint can opener.

I have some old screwdrivers that I will be removing the handle on, and will be putting them on a bunch of files.

Put the metal in a vice and pull (according to the tool truck guy) OR use what the shop guess did, put the handle in a vise and grab the metal with some pliers and pull. OR shut the vise enough to keep the handle stuck on the other side, and pull (may drop the handle on the floor, but i don like the vise marks on my tools)

Vise works great.
Wrap the blade in leather or such. Then use a prybar, or scrap of 2x4 & hammer to seperate.

The easiest thing for me has been this...

Slide a fender washer (or two) over the blade
Wrap the blade in gorilla tape (or leather would work)
Clamp the blade in a vise leaving about a 1/2 gap between the handle & the top of the vise
Use a couple of pry bars and gently lift up
****, undamaged handle and undamaged blade.

Prep takes about a minute, handle removal about 30 seconds. Best part is no damage to either.

******* tool truck guys beat them off with a hammer if u put it in boiling water for a min it opens handle up then they come off easy

I clamp the blade in a vice and use a an adjustable wrench against the handle.

Hold on... It's a frozen beyond repair wrench that I was fixing to throw ink the scrap pile.

Couple of taps and the usually come right off.

I like the fender washer idea.
