My recent Sunex 8004 toolbox side tray modification

I got a Sunex side tray for my snapon toolbox for Christmas. The 8009 model with the bent lip flange that just sits over the toolbox chest top lip does not seem to be available any longer - so I got the 8004 model which has a 90° lip instead. (pictures 1-3) It also comes with 2 bolts to fasten the tray to the side of the toolbox. I didn't want to drill holes in the side of the box, so I came up with an alternate mounting method.

I took some scrap sheet metal and drilled two mating holes to match the already existing holes in the top of the tool box cart. I then drilled 3 holes along the edge and installed some #6 machines screws and nuts, leaving about 3/8" thread proud. (pictures 3-6)

I then drilled 3 matching holes on the edge of the toolbox tray. I also had to cut the lip shorter in length, as the flange would not clear the tool box top chest mounting legs. I also used some foam padding sheets that I had to cover the surfaces of the tray to prevent scratches to the tool box side.I mounted my "adapter plate" using some lock nuts on the underside of the tool chest. I then just slid the tool tray over the 3 exposed bolt studs and opened the tray. It's easily flipped up and down, and can also be removed. (pictures 4-6)
