I have an eye for old machine and tool bases to put back to work in my small home shop. Between my local salvage yard and FB I've found a few that I think are worth sharing. None of the bases were removed from working machines and all could be returned to original use if needed.
Pics 1,2&3 are my R.I. #56, 7" swivel jaw vise on top of 231lbs V&O Press Co. legs. The legs are from the 50's and had a large punch machine on top of it when made.
#4&5 are my Jet belt sander that I mounted on its side to use as an edge sander on top of a Cincinnati tool sharpener base.
#6 is an old Athol 614 on a McDonough MFG grinder stand.
#7 is a Henry G. Lange glass grinder base that I have yet to find a purpose for. Henry was very proud of his work and cast his name into almost every part. His company made specialty machines for glass working like grinders and drills. I looked up the address and sadly the factory is now an empty lot.
#8 is a cart I made for my plasma cutter using some of the nicer cast iron wheels I've ever found.
I was out of room several years ago but they keep finding me.

I’m a little embarrassed to pretend that I can follow your outstanding machine bases (especially the welder cart!!) but I just wanted to point out that even comparatively light metal bases can be useful. I just have a basement shop with homeowner level tools, but I use an old Singer treadle machine base under a couple bench top tools. I also have a couple antique wrought iron table bases that were going to scrap that I found useful in my little shop.
