My Rotozip died

I've had my original Rotozip Revolution tool since early 2000's. I haven't used it that much, but when I needed it, it was super handy. I was using it to cut a hole through a wall. It ran fine. I put it down and the next time I picked it up it was dead.

I've isolated the problem to the circuit board and the 115v - 6v transformer. Unfortunately, the original company was sold to Bosch then to Dremel and no one seems to be able to help with parts. I actually found the part listed on line, but it was listed as obsolete and no longer available. I haven't had any luck at all finding a substitute.

It is Model REVO1 Type 4. Have any of you run into this and had any luck repairing them? OR have one they are no longer using and interested in selling?

Thanks,

Thanks,

IME, they're pretty much disposable.

Most people have replaced them with multitools so if you can find one at a garage sale or flea market they should be very cheap. I just passed on one yesterday with all the attatchments for $15. I don't think it was ever used.

Just how good (or bad) is (or was) the Rotozip Revolution tool ?

Are they actually worth having one?

Exactly what is the tools main function used for?

I have found that nearly every other tool vendor at the flea market has one of these. Finding a used one should be pretty easy. It's funny you mention this tool, as I saw the 3rd one of the day this past Saturday, I began to wonder if they were giving them away at some point for there to be so many of them!

Just picked up the Ryobi One battery version, reconditioned, from Direct Tools for cheap!

I have one sitting in it's case for the past 10 years. I would've given it to you for the cost of shipping. Sick of moving it around.

My dad gave me a rotozip back in the early 2000s, I have never used it, lol. If your other deal doesn't work out, let me know. I'll go test mine and see if it works and if so, we could work something out.

Are you trying to fix it just because you like fixing things? Or are you trying to fix it to save a few bucks buying a new one?
Nothing wrong with either motivation, but just be honest with yourself. My point is that it’s probably not economically viable to repair it by the time you find the part and pay for shipping. You’re going to be in it for $20. A new one is what, $30?

Coogar - Thanks. I'll keep that in mind

vavet - Definitely the first. I take it as a personal challenge when something breaks :), but I look at the economics. My dilemma is I have a bunch of accessories that don't fit the newer models.
