My Rust Bullet Garage Floor

Do a lot of reading on here, thought I would contribute.

- 25' X 30' garage
- 7 gallons Rust Bullet Base coat (3 coats total)
- 35-40 lbs flakes - B411
- Almost 5 gallons of clear (3 coats)
- Rented the concrete prep tool, floor maintainer & vacuum from Home Depot

Ground my old floor, vacuumed up the dust and went to work. Started on a Wednesday night and finished up on a Sunday morning. I would consider this a full broadcast. The base coat was rejecting the flakes to the point where I was blowing them around with a leaf blower to ensure even coverage and I vacuumed up quite a bit before applying the clear. Let it dry for 5 days, probably could have been less, but I was out of town.

Overall I'm very happy with the product and the customer service I received from garageflooringllc.com. I got the cabinets from them too...

Nice work, nice garage layout too.
I'd suggest doing something to highlight that step before someone trips or rolls an ankle off it. Especially now that it's freshly camouflaged.

eta oh and your flag is hung backwards, field's supposed to go to the left when it's draped that way.

What is very very interesting about this project for the general consumer:

FIRST: I think it really worked well in this case because the B-411 flake are consistent with the base color.

A random broadcast floor would have taken about 7.5 pounds
A Full Broadcast floor would have taken well over 100 pounds

He really did get the look and feel of full broadcast with substantially less flake

I don't know if you have any plans for Slatwall, but NORSKs new product installs very well direct to stud. Its expensive, but if you don't drywall those areas you save money there

I've only been in the house for 6 weeks, so the layout is still pretty fluid. Its all coming down for drywall. I'll probably leave the workbench on that wall as most of my wrenching will be done in the double bay.

The curb is pretty obvious, so when I start tripping over it that means I've had too many and it's time for bed...

Don't skimp on the prep - I prefer grinding. It's more work but its worth the piece of mind.

Follow the instructions for whatever product you choose, set a schedule and stick too it. Mine was:

Wed.- Grind and cleanup
Thurs. - First base coat
Friday - Took half day off work and did second and third coat w/ flake
Saturday - Profiled (vacuumed up excess flake) and applied two coats of clear
Sunday morning - Final coat of clear

6 hours between coats (start to start) seamed like plenty, but it's humid in Houston...

Oh, and buy your stuff from somewhere that knows their product and can help you if you have questions.
