I came across this old huffy mower a while back and initially wanted to restore it. After getting more and more frustrated as years passed by, I changed my direction and decided a go kart it shall be. Its my first significant welding project. Some learning along the way, but in the end I'm happy with it. Figured I would share. Enjoy...89ef272703b3517641d30046edef6722.jpgb102df27b37df199a0b4e62d90548f95.jpg2048e811f65fb8ad6e012dd4d68ed78d.jpgd39565e6328dd72298cdc86b0a9b6436.jpgeb612e1246ced4e1f4ccaad49306ae0d.jpg1372ac40d797372c1b7a947348d9f832.jpg2c905cc4064da916cbb17a8395babba3.jpg

Very cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for an old mower now. My oldest daughter is 5 now and has just about outgrown the power wheels.

Hey, I have one of those riders. It's been sitting for about 20 years or more. You might have inspired me to do the same to mine. Great looking cart!

Thanks everyone. Its a lot of fun. I think I might need to make a cushion or switch to a padded seat though. Lol

Front axles are usually an issue because no one ever greases the bushings/bearings. Also the mower deck rots because no one clean the old damp grass stuck underneath.

I have a solid deck that came off this one. I'll have to find another that needs it. Lol

That looks like fun! "Lawnmower Racing" was a pretty happening thing a short while back and could still be, looked like a blast honestly. Perhaps check and see if there is any near you so you can adapt/build to suit the rules for even more fun. I haven't touched my "Go-Karts" in 20 years. Hmm. grand son is coming close to an age that he could play, I'll have to work on stretching/exercising so I can get in, and more importantly OUT! Easier to mount oneself to the rider than the much much lower cart seating. Harry

Got more info on the wheels and tires? Those look bad *** from what I can.
Sorry, not sure why the pictures look so bad. The wheels were off a quarter midget race car. I bought them at a swap meet for $20. Tires are Sakamoto go kart rain tires.

I didn’t know that Huffy made mowers. That turned out great.
Neither did I before this project. Here's how it would have looked in the 60s. e93a7133f185d9880e88bfa5bc0c4ac6.jpg
