wife and i just bought a home(closed the monday before thanksgiving).. with a two car attached garage. and of course, sitting in the back yard... is another two car garage. imagine my excitement when we first looked at the house... :bounce:

i think the size is 22x24... although, i'm not positive. i have been working on it little by little... as the wife has had me inside the house putting up blinds, replacing door knobs, hanging mirrors, etc. you get the idea. anyways....

on to the goods:

the garage was empty... so:

had to build a bench..

then i built another smaller bench... with toolbox in place, among other things...

i'll give the panaramic view... going from front right to front left:

this is going to be where i put cabinets... and keep the metal working tools. like the welder, grinder, etc.

this will be where the tv is mounted and the bar is... along with a fridge. not right away... but, hopefully soon.

this is going to be the bicycle area... to the left of the window.

i still have to put lights up... i just got them today after work at wally world, so they will be up this weekend sometime.

that's it for now... i'll keep adding pics to this thread as i make progress. thanks for looking.

she'll learn in time. my wife has become really supportive over time as she's realized how important the space is to my mental health. Can't wait to see the transformation, you have a great starting point to work with

thanks guys... wife and i rented a townhome with a one car garage for the last three years, so she knows i seriously appreciate this space. and she's happy that i have it too.

forgot to mention, i also plan to finish the walls... that's the only thing i don't like about it. but, i don't mind at all right now.

My homeowner advice would be to do this sooner rather than later. You'll get used to it the way it is, and other projects will keep getting in the way. But it can make a real difference in how you feel about working in a place if it feels relaxed and is finished the way you want it.

 Two garages. We should all be so lucky.

In addition to what Jack Olsen said, I would

recommend some flourescent lights also.
I agree that the better the environment the more you will enjoy / want to work in it.

as jack said, do it now............seems wall refinishing gets put on the backburner and then when you finally decide to do it, it's a job just to clear the **** away...............or do at least one and build off that ; bench, hooks etc..........as you do the others as time and money allows, you can learn what works and doesn't for your needs...........

the more i think about it... the more i agree with you guys. if funds allow it... i'll probably start finishing the walls after the holidays.

thanks for all the kind words. I know this space is nothing compared to alot of the garages on this site... but, i still feel very lucky to have what i do. :)

just a quick update: over the holidays, i built a bar. just have to stain/paint it or decorate it.

went from the empty corner in the initial post, to this:

then, to this:

it ended up being very sturdy... and very level. i guess i got lucky, :bounce: considering the two work benches were my 1st and 2nd projects i've ever built.

well... i hit the jackpot last night, as far as decorating the bar.

i was talking to a the husband of my wife's co-worker at a holiday party... and i mentioned building a bar. He said let me know when you're ready to decorate, i'll bring some stuff for you. he's a crown royal rep. i was expecting a couple of shot glasses and maybe a bottle opener. boy, was i ever wrong... and everything was FREE. i couldn't believe it. :bounce:

here's some of what he brought...

crown royal light box(pictured)
crown royal mirror(pictured)
Captian Morgan light box(not pictured)
Johnny Walker Dart Board(pictured)
bar matts(pictured)
stir/napkin holders(pictured)
three-shot snow board(pictured)
a bunch of shot glasses, 'rocks' glasses... etc.
the list goes on...

on to the goods:

I also mounted black lights above the mirror... so, with the neon clock on, the black lights and the crown royal light box on... it's pretty cool(to me, anyways).

oh, and i went and purchased some bar stools from Big lots... they seem pretty sturdy for 30 each.

thanks for looking...
