I wanted to thank all of the posters for their kind comments. When I run out of gas and think the project is never ending it spurs me onward.... last week I had an unexpected turn of events. Here they are ( sooner than planed @ only 30 weeks.. :bounce: And I thought I had another 7-8 weeks to finish the living space...

Thanks, all seem to be progressing better than expected. The helpers part I'm not sure about... some day maby:) They will have a few more weeks in the NICU so I hope I can get the dust producing jobs finished, and the painting wraped up.

Woah, I misread your first post and thought it was two photos of the same child, but no! Congratulations, William...hope their time in NICU is short and you get two healthy kids home to enjoy.

I reckon the shop isn't going to be the obsession anymore...

Thanks.. They say that it can take up to the time of a full term baby before they can come home... I hope not, 10 weeks is a long time in nicu.

Nope, New obsession. I guess I will have to build the house too now :)

Thanks! I do know that they are going to be the most $$$ investment, that's for sure. The NICU bill is going to make the building seem cheap!

Robert and Jacquline are their names.

Well time for an update...
Here are some pictures of the partition wall construction. I welded some tabs to the under side of the main roof rafter to attach the 2X6 joists to. The rather stout header is so the wall can support a future 2nd floor.

Well, I was self employed, but I had to fire myself as I was working too slow..... Now it's very hard to get any thing done on the shop. Too much, fill em up, pause, unwrap, wipe, rewrap, and repeat, 2X every 2hrs 7/24 :wtf:. As for ***, is there *** after kids?? I guess there are thouse moments that Im really greatful, that I installed a noisy furnace .

To allow for the future expansion of the 2nd floor I attached the studs to the top of the lower load bearing wall using some "spacer" blocks that I can remove with out trashing the whole wall at a latter time. I used the same 1, 1/8" OSB as a spacer so I can extend the floor sheathing under the studs when the spacers are removed ( I screwed them in) I also framed in another header for the future door for the access to the upstairs from the large part of the shop. Also put up some sheet rock and tile backer board in the "lunch" area for a backsplash.

After I installed the backer board I rounded up some left over floor tile and slaped it up on the wall. I figured that this might be a good job for the lazer level. I also put up some dam sheetrock and taped it. In the utility room, I hate that there is never a good way to attach the dryer vent, so I made a recess in the wall to make the connection....

It's not too bad what is really needed is a concentric tubes with a right angle to concentric rectangles box joint with a short adapter ( to allow you to hose clamp it to the dryer) on it's wide side.

The way it would work is you would attach the 1/2 of the concentric rectangle with the adapter to the dryer outlet ( this would allow you to also adjust for an offset from the vent to the wall) This you would trim on the rectangle part to length (if needed you could also trim the other 1/2 of the concentric rectangle to make it shorter) you would then seal and pop rivet it to togher to make a custom length for the offset height to the wall part. The remaining concentric tube ( attached to the wall vent) would allow you to line up the dryer and slide it back up to the wall

I guess I should draw up what I'm talking about some day as I'm sure the above is about as clear as mud ?:)

Anyway

hers a picture with the switchboard put back togher

The washing machine drain is an one piece unit, with the valves in it. I think, I remember that it was made by Otay (SP?), the guys that make the pvc cement. It has 1/4 turn valves and although it's not the greatest quality stuff, it seems to be ok. You can see the rough plumbing in pic, located in post #71, and the finished pic below.

Thanks for "votes" on the Favorite Shop Contest!!

As for my favorite shop, there are some many very nice shops here to see. I'm not sure I have favorite one. I would like to have parts of lots of them! The best part of most of them is that they are DONE! (Well as done as some thing like that ever is :) )

Holy cow, that is a bunch of stuff!

I thought I had too much stuff. Now I know that I don't even come close. Thank you for relieving me of that burden!

It is good to note that most of the boxes seem to be labeled as to the contents. I have been unsuccessful in trying to explain the importance of that feature to my wife.

Dam shame, having to turn it into a storage facility, but at least your saving on rent.

How long do you recon it might be need for storage. Working around, over, under stuff is a PITA I know how you must be feeling.

Heck that is not the half of it.... there are 2 more trucks full of stuff! Well that's not not compleatly true the 40' moving van is now about 1/2 full and the 27' dry van is about 2/3 full :(:(

As for the lables, the wife was much better than I was, I got tired and started listing boxes with such helpfull lables as "Stuff from office" and "**** from garage" :(:(:( I'm now really paying for that one......

The Drywall sander has been a great time saver and the local rental places here did not have one, so it was buy one or forget it....

The DW saw is a nice tool I have looked at their new model and it may be nicer, but for what I use it for this one has been a super time saver.
