I was using my little buddy as I call it, a 1950's table saw. I picked it up last year for $40 off craigslist. It's the guys grandpa's saw and its obvious he was the original owner. It's in excellent condition, cuts like a dream and I absolutely love the fence adjustment dial.

Used it last night to make a rip cut on the final planks of bamboo floor last night and it shaved off a sliver of wood you could read thru. It never let's me down.

I've often wondered if the newer Cman table tops would mount to the older ones. I guess the worse thing would be making alignment holes...

I have the exact same one in my garage...it works better than a new saw I bought, so I chucked the newer one!

I have this same saw in the much newer 1964 model that was my grandfathers. It still works great.

I have one of the motors off of that saw. Used it as a bench grinder for a while!

I have one of these, or one similar, got it off of a co-worker. However, i need a base, any recommendations?

WoW hold on to that one pal I had a very similar one to that it was a Startrite worked for years and years until a huge lump of oak I was working on toppled over on it and broke the cast iron body a guy bought it though with the intension of fixing it.Wish I still had it.

A base? Can you provide a pic of what you have?

Some (I believe the ones that were painted gold, not blue) had optional bases that were very nice. Other woodworking machines had bases available as well, including the larger planer and bandsaw possibly? Do a Google search for them, they are very art deco!

The bases like the OP has pictured were more widely used and are very portable compared to the ones I mentioned.

Sure thing, when i get home tonight I will try and get a picture, it is sitting on a hand truck in the garage right now. It looks very similar to the one pictured, however it has the extended "wings" that are open air like this picture

Nice to be a member. Just picked up 113.27520 for 60 bucks on cl with two extensions. Passed the nickel test no problem.

I also have a Craftsman table saw like that. My dad used it to build a cabin on the Texas gulf coast in the early sixties. Still works perfectly. He built a stand for it out of 2x4s with a plywood top. Top has a hole cut in it for the sawdust to drop through. Theaded rod through 2 of the legs and a couple of lawnmower wheels for mobility. That, also has held up well for 50+ years.
